EBR 1190RX battles the field at Broadford.
EBR-1190RX-Pirelli-Series-R4
EBR Australia finishes the Pirelli Series with a total of four first place finishes and two second place finishes from eight races in the BEARS National Challenge.
Four fastest laps and two qualifying pole positions were also achieved from the almost standard road going EBR 1190RX ridden by Chas Hern, making its racing debut an amazing success.
Round four saw the 1190RX qualify again in pole position with a fastest lap of 58.536 seconds around the technical Broadford circuit, which is only 1.542 seconds off the 2009 Superbike lap record. However running standard suspension on such a demanding circuit resulted in a DNF in race one which set down a challenge for racer Chas Hern to start at the back of the grid in race two from p24. Chas charged through the field managing to secure second place to the surprise of the crowd ahead of Phillip Cloros on the Ducati Panigale 1199.
Starting race three from second on grid in windy and dusty conditions, Chas jumped ahead of Philip Czaj on the Aprilia RSV4 1000 to first position before an unexpected low side occurred out of turn one. Upon reviewing video footage from Philip Czaj’s Aprilia, EBR Australia has put the unlucky incident down to track conditions.
This upset and surprise wasn’t the last as Chas rode the 1190RX in race four, again from the back of field in p24. The crowd witnessed an explosive start as Chas carved through more than half of the field before entering turn one. The breathtaking passes were second to none in the round, so that by lap four the strike yellow EBR 1190RX was chasing down first place. The chequred flag arrived all too soon as the 1190RX crossed the line in second place to the cheer of race goers who witnessed EBR making its mark in Australian road racing.
