I don't believe the Vanson jacket I purchased will take armor. There are no pockets in the jacket to insert them. Who makes a good armor jacket?

I think just about all real motorcycle jackets these days come with armour or pockets for armour. In fact I don't think I've seen a jacket made in the last 5 years that won't accommodate armour.

Look for hard armour with CE designation rather than the cheap foam pads.

You can also buy an armoured vest that you could wear under your Vanson...

On your Vanson, look for the zippered opening in the interior liner right at the base of your spin. If there is a zipper there, you can put armor in the Vanson. If there is no zipper, it isn't set up for armor. Vanson doesn't use pockets to place the armor. It has Velcro attached directly to the leather and it goes between the liner and outside leather. There are Velcro'd straps for a back pad. You can buy different types of armor from Vanson, everything from standard foam to CE rated foam (same as in your helmet liner). They also have the older style GP armor with hard plastic backed by foam.

Some Vanson jackets don't take armor, those are usually spec'd by retailers to lower the price or because it was made for fashion. I bought a Vanson on Ebay that was clearly a cruiser based jacket (Harley red & white strip), that I thought would go great with a red Buell. I looked up the specs on Vanson's site and it listed it as armor compatible, which is why I bid on it. But when I got it, no dice. That is what I get for assuming it was a standard Vanson.
