I picked up an XBRR airbox from a guy on the facebook group for what I thought was a decent price. Figured I would get a build thread started. Title says it all, fit an XBRR to my 1125. This is a track only bike so I figured I could try to pick up a bit of performance when its all said and done.
Some bike background:

Plan
Give the bike slightly more, colder, and faster airflow.
All this being said, I'm going to try and keep the airbox as unmodified as possible(shame to cut up a cool piece of Buell history IMO). I plan to close off the lower airbox scoop and modify the filter housing. This should direct all the air though the fairing, adding velocity and cooler air at higher speed.
now lets see some pictures
The airbox:
Two piece construction. All carbon fiber

Haven't done much besides take it out of the box and put it on the bike. Finals start next week so I wont really get to it for a bit.

I'm not trying to call you out, Are you sure that's a xbrr airbox? It kinda looks like a old gixxer (2001-2004) air induction on a xb airbox.... It might be a prototype airtech air scoop.
I've seen a few xbrr's in person and the "Y" is a lot further forward over the top triple and there is a set of mounting holes and a plate that goes on the top of the "Y" for the tach to hang between it and the air inlet is not that big.
I also noticed that the back side of the air box next to the seat is not square.
The only reason I'm saying this is you will more then likely have to chop it up to make it work.
Good work and keep the pictures coming..

Cherry Bomb- I love it. But, be warned it will turn you into a hooligan.
Squid- I noticed that too and was wondering the same thing. The rear of the box fits the tabs so it might just be the picture. As far as proof goes, I have the sellers word. No part numbers or anything. The mating surface on the bottom side is the same shape as what I've seen in pictures. That being said the bottom will have to be modified to fit unless I use some sort of adapter.
Jesse- You could be onto something there

Update time:
Finally had time to mess with it again now that I'm on winter break. I Stripped the bike down further to get some better test fits and came to the conclusion that the box will have to be trimmed slightly. This is the underside and as you can tell it wont exactly fit over the stock 1125 inner airbox.

I also test fit the front scoop again and decided to trim my fairing stay. Now I'm searching for a place to mount my gauge cluster.

Oh9bolt, that is exactly the thread I found that made me want to do the airairbox mod. After I bought it I realized that I would have to get rid of to many pieces on my bike that I use everyday (phone holder, back up screen, spedometer) amd there was no waway to really integrate it all cleanly so I sold it to bulletooth

I'm only slightly farther along. These things are massive and should move A LOT of air.

I really keep coming to the conclusion that buell should have ran the ram air ducts in between the tubes and through the frame or do like he did on the xb's where they were on the side. The other manufacturers did it because it worked so well. Some things just work.

Puzzled I saw your thread when I first did some research to see who, if anyone had done it before. Killer build, have you gotten any further on it besides what you had in the thread?

I worked on the motor some more and gathered a few more parts. I suspect this coming year will allow me some more time to get back at it.

Time for another update.
Still haven't made much more progress than I have shared, but I do have a good reason. Got this shinny little gem in just after the holidays so I've been messing around getting it installed on the XB.

On further inspection when I went to install the system I noticed my lower pushrod and base gaskets were leaking. Since I had the motor out already and the bike has 27k on her, I figured a rebuild couldn't hurt.

Update time.
Still waiting on motor parts for the xb so I began tinkering with the 1125 again. Since I really don't want to cut the airbox parts more than I have to I thought I'd try an experiment after seeing what puzzled has done. I worked with a local race shop in town that sells all manner of stuff for cars and bike on a project for school so I decided to check out what they had. I Found these NACA ducts and figured I would give them a try. At least for $30.

The plan is to use a heat gun and shape them to the inside of the fairing where my headlight block off plates go.
http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/q748/Bullettooth023/20150225_213200_zpsaluefbvj.jpg
Got started on shaping it but I'm going to need another set of hands to help out with the heat gun. I'll update you guys when I get one done
