We have forums to advertise the selling of bikes and parts...why not one for simply trading? Only catch would be in shipping the items. And above all, honesty & integrity. ...apply those two things to shipping cost and not screw anyone.
Post pics of what you have to trade, followed by a wish list, kept within reason. Would you be for or against it? I think this could benefit all of us. Rather than cluttering up the forum with postings, having one location for such activity would be great. Mods, please weigh in on this if you would, thanks.

Guys...do not start posting anything up for trade, this is just a discussion on whether it would work for the forum

Yea, I thought about the 'pay if forward' too - these types of things are what makes the forum a great community. There have been some deadbeats along the way though. I'd be in; I hoard parts like crazy :)

*Envisions a 6 way trade including select seats and race exhausts, wall art, a homecoming blimp, two strippers with hyphenated first names and somehow I end up with an RT3 landing on my doorstep* :D

Mope...lol, hmmmm select seat:D

Jacob...in a perfect world ,we all know never will be...however we as a whole could make a difference within our Buelligan society:D

mrlogix...thanks for agreeing.

UMDterp13...yeap, I know you have lots of parts and this could help all of us, though I understand it's also part of your revenue.

We all know that $$$ is always an issue, also timing when it comes to getting parts. And some of us aren't financially capable like others to acquire things on the wishlist. So, again the benefit of doing something like this is a win win situation.

Homecoming blimp!! What would you need in trade for it?:p

If we could somehow build in a rating or rep points, like other sales sites, that would give people an idea of how honest and reliable people are then that might help in deciding wether making a trade with someone is a good idea. I would be interested. I recently bought a bunch of parts from a guy CHEAP and have been selling them off to raise some cash so I can buy other parts that I want/need. I am pretty sure that I would get a better return doing a trade.

There is a blimp for trade on craigslist up here. Of course, usage would be non-existent and while I don't often do well with the 'do I really need another (insert part here)?' argument, a blimp is a tough one to justify.

What parts do you have that are going for cheap and what are you wanting/needing. This may just take off....

I agree it is a great Idea, but I would only deal with local trades or people that have been on the site for a while.

Mope, sold several of the pieces already (XB9 subframe, fuel pump, turn signals, tail light) and already made my money back and then some. Waiting to hear back from a guy about new gold passenger heel guards and black pegs. Here is the link to the post http://www.buellxb.com/Buells-for-Sale/Buell-Parts-for-Sale/XB-Parts-5. I have a bunch of bolts, bulbs, and odds and ends that I think I will keep. Bought it all to get a air box cover for my 04 XB12S with the Buell logo still on it. Keeping my other one and looking at customizing it but haven't decided exactly what that will look like yet. As for wants and needs, mostly wants at this point. Have stock pegs that I would like to upgrade. Cyclegear bar end mirrors that are pretty good but would eventually like to upgrade. My butterfly valve doesn't want to go to 0 degrees when doing a TPS reset, stops at doubt 0.2 and have to "force" it the rest of the way by twisting the throttle, so that will need addressed but not sure if the issue is with the valve itself or something else. Tried cleaning it but didn't make any difference. Just put Renthal ultra lows on it last spring after someone knocked it over in the parking lot and bent the stock bars. Been playing around with the idea of clip ons but don't know if I would like them. Spent the summer tuning but thinking about an EBR race ECM to go with the Hawk can. Would LOVE to replace the exhaust and pipes with ones from Dean and add a bung for an 02 sensor for the front cylinder. The chin fairing is showing the 30k miles of use and would like to replace it at some point. Just keeping on tweaking and making subtle improvements.

mrlogix, if there was some way to build that into the profiles instead of having to search through the thread it would make it easier. Local, face to face is great but often limits the market, supply and demand. i was lucky enough to find my stock exhaust locally to replace the $*(&# Jardine the PO had installed. But not always that lucky.

I buy and sell parts all the time. I'm a bit of a hoarder myself. I think a trading thread would be great. Most guys on here are stand up. I haven't had a bad transaction yet on here or Badweather. I agree that funds are an issue especially at this time of year. I hope we can work something out, at times it's hard to figure a value of a used part. I see some listings for parts way over what they would be retail, and some of these are still available. It's important to remember that we are looking to get our bikes back on the road, not empty our bank accounts.:D Maybe we can figure a way to be listed as a seller or trader in this instance like they do on e-bay. I buy and sell stuff on e-bay and feedback is important. I don't know how the rep point system works on here, but I have yet to have anyone have an unpleasant experience with a transaction with me(welll at least no one has said anything...:D).

So far the consensus of having a forum for trading looks great, however no Moderators have weighed in as of yet.

Shawns...have you looked at the link provided on ratings? That's a great tool to go by in deciding whether or not to trade with someone.

It's important to remember that we are looking to get our bikes back on the road, not empty our bank accounts.

^^^this...highly agree
