Super sharp, meetch! What type of Scorpions are those? They look like A tread pattern I might be looking for.

Thanks guys.
These tires are Pirelli Scorpion Sync. I normally ride Michelin but these were purchased and mounted by the previous owner... And with less than 500kms on them I figured I would give them a shot. And so far so good.. the handling is great all the way to the edge, they ride smooth and turn in is great. At this stage in the game I have no complaints whatsoever and would definitely recommend this tire.

A perfectly executed bike. Clean, simple, and stylish at the same time. Although I would have done a set of LED turn signals.

Since it's you're money and not mine, some black ceramic coating on those headers would make it flawless. :D But yeah, like everyone else said, nice clean bike. [up]

Agreed, ceramic coated header is on the list of "winter mods". I had coated the muffler myself and only took a few days to do so... but the removal of the header looked like it may take a bit longer. So I figured I would leave that for the cold season along with a bunch of other ideas.
Nice bike meetch, it looks very familiar
Thanks.. do you live in my area or anything like that?

I probably do not, I was kidding, because we have the same color scheme. Nice bike, great choice in mods.
I'm in Southern, CA by the way.

Right on.. California is a beautiful place to be.. Lucky you!
How would I go about shortining the turn signals and what is the "DIY Sprocket Mod? Thanks

DIY sprocket mod is AKA the sanded pulley mod. It just consists of sanding the teeth on your rear pulley so they are aluminum instead of black

what is the "DIY Sprocket Mod?
He sanded down the outside making the teeth shiny

I can't find the link to the Turn Signal mod... but that's pretty simple as well.
Just remove the windscreen, take the turn signals off and remove the spacer in between. Next you want to find yourself a piece of tubing or a sleeve of some sort that you will be able to mount on the inside of the windscreen area mimicking the length of the original plastic spacer (just so you don't have to chop up the original threaded tube). Once you found your new sleeve or tube.... locate the turn signal (without the spacer) slide the new tubing or sleeve inside the windscreen area, thread the original washer and nut on, re-install the windscreen and your done.
Sorry if the description isn't all that clear, just take the signals and windscreen off and you'll see what I mean.
thanks alot, i will have to take a look and see what i can do. the sprocket looks good like that and with the guards removed. think that will be on my list of things to do tomorrow.

nice bike guess the effort pays off. the xbs has the streetfighter look covered! BTW what did you have to give for the ceramic coating for your race exhaust, if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks GatorBuell and 1stxb9r....
As for the muffler coating, I actually did it myself. I work in automotive manufacturing and have a supplier that has a canned ceramic coating... Almost the same as like a Duplicolor ceramic paint that you can buy at like Canadian Tire (or stateside AutoZone). Anyways I just sand blasted the muffler, hung it in the garage, sprayed as directed, then BBQ'ed it for 2.5hrs at 300F. Cost no more than 8 dollars.
It's been holding up great so far. I also plan on doing the header in the winter.

I just used the spacer itself when I did mine.

That is one friggin sharp looking bike! If I may suggest a few things: I spent about 15-20 bucks and got all stainless hardware from McMaster-Carr online (instead of repainting) their site is super nice to use and almost everything comes next-day, and I'd get the Knight Designs brake reservoir cover as it would match your black-silver scheme (got mine on ebay). There are also black bullet-style turn signals on ebay that match the round front lights. Just thought I'd throw those out there.
meetch
05-28-2009, 04:23 PM
thanks TechMagic... I thought of going that route with the stainless hardware but decided just to paint, really no reason other than having a can of black paint handy.
And good call on the Brake Reservoir I just ordered one from E-bay..

Very nice man I love it. How loud is that exhaust? Where did you get the end mirrors? Got a link to that DIY tail chop? Awesome pics man.
meetch
06-05-2009, 12:30 PM
Thanks!
The exhaust is nice and loud... but I find that if your in the right gear city cruising you can keep a fairly low tone.
The bar end mirrors I got from motowheels.com, great product at a great price... the mirrors take some getting used to but they are worth it. After a few rides they become second nature.
As for the tail chop, unfortunately I didn't take any photos in process but will take some closer shots to give the idea.

Just warmed the stickers up with a blow dryer and peeled them back.. then right after I followed up with some "goo gone" to remove any excess glue left behind.

Just some updates from over the winter.. Nothing too serious...
Re-Located the turn signals from the top tail piece and made a bracket to mount then in between the plate and top tail piece.
http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/2644_20100401052800_L.jpg
Added a set of pro-tapers along with a Buell Traction grips.. ended up having to cut open the ends of the grips to fit the Oberons.

Well its been a good run... I just loaded her in the back of the new owners truck. 18,000kms of awesome, uninterupted riding... Hands down the best bike I have ever owned. I beat it senseless and it took every bit of it, it made many supersports look like peddle bikes and even changed a few opinions along the way. [up] Now the hunt for my 1125CR begins.
