Hi guys. I the proud new owner of a 98 s1 Lightning. Love it. Her name is charliese. Rode it for a week and the clutch cable broke at the handle bars. No problem!! Replaced the cable and it worked like new!! After only a few miles it appeared as if the cable broke again. Turns out that half of the lip on the pressure plate that holds the throughout bearing broke off. ****!!! The retaining clip appears to not have expanded fully causing too much easier load on one side of the lip. Any one heard of thes before ? Did I noe adjust the clutch properly??

Not sure all the terminology is correct, but wht I have seen is the retaining ring for the spring plate breaks and then has no clutch resistance or return. You can use twin motorcycles website to look at diagrams and figure out the correct parts to replace or repair.

The part that broke was the pressure plate. The lip that holds the retaining clip for the release plate broke. I was just wondering if that was a sign of other problems.
