View Full Version : Lower throttle cable bracket bending?

Hey what's up,

Since I've had the bike I noticed an increase in throttle free-play after every couple rides.
I found that the throttle bracket near the left front below the airbox seems to bend a little and move closer towards the throttle body creating a tiny bit more slack in the cable. I've bent it back several times already.

I was going to come up with some way to secure it a little better but I wanted to see if others had that issue.

I'm not WOT rarely if ever so I don't quite understand why this could be moving.
It appears to effect my TPS calibration also since I seem to have to do it about every 2-3 rides otherwise I get odd throttle response and sometimes my bike might stall if I give it throttle after idling in N for a minute or two.

Any ideas?

take care,

Post a pic of the bracket, maybe it just needs to flex to that point and then it will stop? There shouldn't be very much pressure on it, is your throttle hard to turn? does it return ok?

The cable adjustment can't affect the TPS.

The section of bracket on the bottom/left moves a bit when the throttle is fully open.
This is the piece that seems to bend slightly to the right (from the picture perspective) and causing an increase in play.
It doesn't take a lot of movement to create a noticeable amount of additional freeplay.

I've been trying to figure out if there is a way to secure it or if I should just replace it.

Thanks,
Take care.
