I was supposed to work today and the activity was cancelled so I decided to catch up here.
Created a new login and had some thoughts I've been meaning to put out.

I've had my 1125R for a bit over a year now (going to make this into a little story instead of getting right to the point).

Did you know that almost any Buell 1125R can be registered in CA? Doesn't have to be a CA model with the evap canister.

When I went to originally register my bike, I had to take it to the DMV (obviously) and get it inspected. The inspector noticed that the tags/plates didn't mention CA and said "that might be a problem".
I ended up speaking to about 3 different people at the DMV that day and all of them said I couldn't register my bike. . .
I had to leave that day with some papers that basically said the same thing. I was irritated of course but I wasn't one of those yelling swearing guys that you usually see at the DMV. I was still being friendly. . .
The next day I get a call from a lady from their main office. She asked how my day was, I said it sucked because I can't reg my bike. So she said "well maybe I can make it a little better". . .
She told me that there was a CARB Executive order stating that the 1125R engine passes CA emissions regulation and that I could come in and register my bike anytime I wanted. She had the forms for me and set everything up.
I went in a day or so later, DMV lady I spoke to a couple days before saw me and said "are you here about your motorcycle? You don't need to wait in line, come with me". VIP DMV service right?
She put my paperwork together, I got my tags. Everything is great.

So if some of you live in CA, don't know about this and can only find 1125R's from other states, there should be little worry.
I added the link below with a scan of the doc in case you're interested.

Take care,

Thanks for the info, I've certainly had my share of 'fun' at the Ca DMV.
Usually it's not an emissions problem in the sense that it's from the running engine. There are Ca specific tunes for that. Usually it's an emissions problem with Ca specific evap controls.

Mileage will typically solve the 'Ca problem' as well, they don't like to see any 49 state vehicle registered in-state with less that 7500 miles. That may be ok for a car, but it sucks for a bike.

I forgot to mention that my Buell only had about 6000 miles at the time. Barely hit 7K a month or so ago.
I believe the CARB Executive order superseded the other CA regulations.

Take care,

I just bought my 2nd 1125R, from Arizona.

Just as long as you have over 7500 miles, you can register it without any hassle in California. But nice to know we have options if we have less mileage than that with an out of state bike.

Also, when you are paying for your tags, the DMV person may ask you for a "smog certificate", just remind them its a motorcycle. They don't do smog test on bikes in California, though DMV employees always ask it first thing because almost everyone they speak with everyday is registering a car.
