View Full Version : Problem with LED turn signals after swapping to EP36

Rescued an 03 blast from a garage after at least 10 years of sitting (or at least since last inspected). A couple of the turn signals were completely trashed so found some LED ones on Amazon instead of trying to track down OEM ones. I figured there would be a resistance issue knowing what I know about LEDs but figured I'd try anyway. Got them all hooked up and tried to test them. I got a loud humming from the relay and the light would turn on but only the first set of LEDs (they are progressive turn signals I'll post the link). I came on here to find what right relay to use and went and bought the EP36. Put that in and the loud humming turned into a low buzzing and the lights started to flicker but still only on that first LED. Do I need to add resistors as well and if so do I need them at each turn signal or is there a place I can put one resistor to correct them all?

Thanks in advance!

If you don't want to buy the resistors they recommend for LED conversion...

and you don't want to buy the flasher relay they recommend for a LED conversion...

You can always mod the OE flasher to work with them:

I have a set of those on a Blast they don’t use a flasher at all!
Make a jumper wire across the hot to signal terminals and the sequential function replaces the flasher.

The sequential signals I have on the SS do use the OE flasher. Unmodified harness. I guess it all depends on the instructions he got with the item he bought.

Good to know I was looking for larger ones than I have on the Blast. What size are yours? Mine are about 2” long

Mine are too, but my complaint is they're never bright enough:(
