i'm making one for myself and should have enough materials for a few more.

it'll be a direct bolt-on, using your toe peg, and stock shifter arm.
aluminum, but not billet cuz i dont't gots a CNC.
heim joints with a bronze bushing instead of a bearing.
at least half the price of the buell race parts price.

should i bother to make more than 1 , or would it be a waste of time?
i can post pics when i finish mine this weekend.

a bunch of views and no posts. [confused]
i guess no one wants my half-ass piece of crap, spit and bubble gummed, duct taped and bailing wired, jigger-rigged, knock-off, crusty-rusty, eye sore of a gp shift kit ....:([sad]

i'll still post pics when i get it finished :D

If I had an 1125 I would buy one, just cause that made me laugh.

it looks butt ugly. the rough cut-out looked promising, but as i rounded off the corners and sanded it down, the wife blurted-out "It looks like a cock an balls, but all un-even and stuff"

her comments were not well recieved
[mad]

i'll work on it s'more.....
and if any one out there still cares: just hang on, folks:D

well, it's done. i hope you fags out there like the cock and balls look that i wasn't going for.

it's a little stiff still, but i didn't want it to be sloppy. the bolt/bushing friction surfaces will wear in and smooth out. ya know, tooth paste makes a darn good polishing compound. i had to abandon the brass bushing and instead used a drilled-out nut crushed into the aluminum plate to keep it as tight as a ..... snare drum. and this stainless steel nut is harder than the brass or aluminum so it will not get sloppy as soon. the best option would be an abec bearring, but the ones i could bet a hold of easily were too big to use. i'll keep an eye out for some smaller ones, maybe a trip to an rc car shop would do the trick.

also it makes the kickstand harder to get at. i put an aluminum extender on there, so it is all good now. i would have done it anyways since it isn't that easy with my riding boots on, but this had priority.

total materials cost was under 75, since i scored the aluminum plate. soooo adding that in would bring up the costs up to 75 or a bit over. (not sure how much one would cost)

i lost count of how long it was taking. so lets guestimate 8 working hours, with everything considered and factored in. i know what your thinking; i suck and work slowly, especially when i try to create something for the first time. and i do try to have a little pride in my ride.

if i were to make and sell another i'd wanna make it worth my time. im guessing i an pump one out in an hour, now that i've done all the running around, and e-bay buying to collect all the bits and pieces.

so don't hold your breath for a production run, folks. it will be hard to make this worth my time, and still deliver a quality product i'm proud of, since it is all by done by hand in my shed with an assortment of powertools. for a considerably small ammount of money you could buy a high quality CNC'd kit from Precision Engineering. whom which i am not affiliated with, or a paid by.

I had to take the opportunity to wield some of my amazing photochop skillz...

But adding some holes to said shifter would kind of cut down on the cock-n-balls factor. Drill them out, then bevel the edges. That wouldn't take a whole lot of work and I think it would look 10x better. (not knocking your work of course)

Man the thread went gay to the 10th power quick. I started out reading about a gp shift kit then............

Its like I walked to far east on Duval street in Key West and found myself in an unfamiliar and very uncomfortable place.

Buellysses, thanks for your input. i agree the 'high-speed-holes' take away from the phallic resemblance. and i'd very much like to make it not have that resemblance.
i was trying to keep it plain looking so it doesn't become a focal point, and draw the eye to it. however comma if it was of finer quality, i think that it should. ya know, like some other kits out there on the market.
and you gots mad photochop skillz, yo[cool][up]

i will be most receptive to anyone's opinions/likes/dislikes/input. that's kinda why i posted up about it. :D

Afinley, i didn't even do that on purpose! but that is darn funny.
now, seriously: the action is arthritic, to use a less connotative word. on the first ride i got stuck in 5th gear, and had to stop and dismount to get back to first. i re-adjusted the pivot bolt, and oiled it some. that helped alot, but since i have had trouble when going from 6 all the way down to 1. there is not a very positive snap or feel to it, so i can't count down the gears. i gotta see the N light blip to be sure. the action still is not as crisp and clean as i think it should be. it's more like my XB9. and i know it can be better.
