I was looking at swapping out my handle bars on my 08 Scg to a lower racing style bar. What is the easiest way to do this. Can I just order a set of firebolt handle bars and swap them out? I saw a black lightning in the members pics that has what I want but I don't know who the bike belongs to in order ask questions.

heres a pic of the bike I'm looking at.

Hey kbaddict, that's my bike with the firbolt top triple. The conversion is not hard to do but it does take a little time. Here is a write up I posted on it. If you decide to go this route feel free to ask me any questions.XBR clip-on conversion for XBS Also if you want it to fit perfect you need to get to XBRR master cylinder from the dealer, here,s a pic.
It's part number H0507.07AH It's about $120 bucks after tax.

sweet ride, definitely looks like a sleeper. Good job on the write up, I think understand it all. Is the change worth it, because I like to lay down on the tank alot but it feels awkward with the current setup. Did you buy the bars from the dealer? Is that a Drummer exhaust you have?

I think it is worth the change. I like to lay down on the tank also, I do a lot of highway riding. That is the main reason I switched the bars, that and I like to ride a lot of twistys and I think the more aggressive seating position makes the bike handle better in the corners. I bought the XBR top triple and bars on ebay for $75 bucks. You can get them from the dealer for sure, I just don't for how much. Also I do have Drummer on my bike.

I was just asking cause I have a drummer as well. I hate to copy but your bike is exactly how I've been evisioning mine. The only difference is mine is cherry bomb trunslucend. The only thing I can't tell is where the cut-outs are on the instrument module for the clip-ons.

I did my best to only cut out what was needed that's why you can't see the cut-outs on the modules. You're not coping me I got plenty of influence for my bike from others out there, especially the clip-on mod. I would love to see how my set-up looks with the cherry bomb plastics, you need to post some pics when your done.:D

would this set up be a no brainer to swap over?

or would there be cutting & drilling as well?

Thats probbaly a straight swap XBen, but shiloh's setup looks way better because it's using an oem clip-on. I'm definitely going to try it. I'll send pics when done
