So, as luck would have it, the PO let me know that the fuel pump was previously replaced already. The first owner bought the bike and had to store it immediately, as he was in the military. The original fuel pump was toast after that, so it was replaced by the second owner. I'm unsure what pump was used as a replacement, but it hasn't given me any issues. I'll replace the plugs with the iridium ones and see what that does. I'll probably replace the headers with those jet coated ones around the same time.
I've been riding with the tall seat and the bead cover. It's amazingly comfortable. Rode into ATL yesterday afternoon, and it was great on the highway and in town. The heat was barely noticeable, and the seat height helped me find that perfect leg position.
I'm still trying to work out a way to use my tank bag. I love the X on the airbox, but my magnetic tankbag wont stick to the plastic. Maybe I'll go the suction cup route.

Just a thought but you could tape metal disks to the inside, where the magnets line up to the cover.

I don't know why that did not occur to me before. I thought about gluing magnets to the outside, but I don't want to screw up the plastic.
That's an awesome idea, too. I will go that route if I cant get the magnets on my current tank bag to work well.
I have been fairly successful using a bungee cord around the cross-bar thing on the handlebars. It works well enough for my purposes, but I do want a little more side stability, just in case.
Here she is at work yesterday, just before a quick storm rolled through. The original tall seat and the New York Taxi Beads (TM) hit the spot. The bike is now everything I expected/wanted after selling my Uly. The seating arrangement puts me in such a position that the heat is never an issue, even in yesterday's humid 90+ degrees, and the overall bike size is super manageable.

I purchased some rare earth magnets form Harbor freight, but they turned out to be way too small. I found a bigger version on Amazon for $10, and they even came with pre-cut double sided tape. With six magnets taped to the inside of my airbox cover, it seems to secure my bag just fine for the daily commute.
