I just bought a 2006 XB12X that is turning out to be too tall for me. I'm quite anxious when coming to a stop as I can only get 1 foot down. I'm thinking I can raise the front forks in the triple clamps(not positive). Is there a different shock I can use for the rear? I know the XT had a lower ride height so would that shock work? The X has a hydraulic ride height adjuster. I tried lowering the ride height but that wasn't enough. The seat is quite comfortable so I would rather not change that out. The bike came with a lower seat but it has too much of a bucket shape that locks you into position that doesn't allow for much squirming plus it puts you up quite close to the air box cover.

YES you can until the limiter ring on each tube bottoms out into the upper triple clamp.

YES...the XT shock will fit direct bolt-on. Reservoir-to-adjuster hose just a tad shorter than X but fits.

Good news. Now, who's got an XT shock? I looked at St Paul HD but didn't see anything there. eBay? There is not any shocks listed explicitly for Uly XT. Can you do without the remote ride height? What is the over all length? Does the color of the spring indicate what the spring rate is?

There is one XB12XT used shock on eBay in the US right now, seems like there were a LOT more a few months ago, including lots of NOS units? There is a used Ohlins from an XB12SS too, I believe that'll be too short for your goals though?

Anyone have an idea on how long XT shock will last? Are they serviceable?

Mine's coming up 35K and I have no frame of reference here. Seems to be fine and don't see any leaks.

Thanks,
Jason

p.s. - I'm interested in buying the spare offered if it's not claimed. I have a whole stash of "want to keep my Uly forever" parts in the loft: engine rubber mounts, belts, injectors, exhaust valve controller, various rubber and plastic bits.
