I am having electrical gremlins at the moment so I'm data logging rides with ECMDroid which is showing rev related spikes of 15.1 to 15.9vdc.

!5.9 volts is on the threshold of being able to pop dedicated fuses...short out ignition and acc relays....and destroy the ECM.
Properly grounding the actual VR to the frame will sometimes "calm it down" and bring its output back in line with what's acceptable but chances are excellent your VR is failing.

That's beautiful! I'm definitely going to steal that. Maybe see if I can find a green display vs a red one. I found green a little easier to see in the daylight.
