The rear axle is 30MM OD at the threaded portion. I do not know the thread pitch/count.
I recently had to change rear tire but axle bolt wouldn't budge. Apparently previous owner/mechanic cross threaded and kept going. Got new axle bolt after snapping old one. Want to run a tap through and chase the good threads and clean out the bad. Anybody know what size tap and thread count is needed? 06 ulysses xb12x 2 bearing rear wheel. Got the axle bolt from st. Paul harley/buell. Part no. GO321.5AK Genuine 03-10 Buell Rear axle... Thanks for any help in advance.

Since you're holding the new axle, the answer is literally in your hands. It will be a VERY expensive tap to buy. Take a 6 pack to your local machine shop and see if they're friendly enough to loan you what you need.
Alternatively get a proper fitting bolt and cut 4 perpendicular grooves in the threads with a 1/16" cut off wheel to make your own thread chaser.
Thanks Cooter I used the old bolt and cleaned up threads after altering it kinda like you suggested as well as grinding down the diameter of the first inch or so. Worked well enough for me to mount rear tire. I am back on the road blowing out the cobwebs in the corners of my mind. Thanks alot!
I am aware of several on there that are reasonably priced <$100 but none were a match to my ulysses xb12x 06. I have read some posts on here that state that some are interchangeable between years and models. In the future I would like to own another bike like mine to use as a parts bike or a possible project bike. I have seen awesome custom buells online.
