"my first bike and its a buell"

Buy quality gear, it is worth it and saves you money in the long run. I bought a Vanson perforated leather jacket for $500 over 12 years ago. I have gone through 5 or 6 textile jackets before finally buying a good one (Aerostich Darien). I spent more on the cheap jackets than on the cost of...

    New Helmet? Gloves? Body Armour?

My Motoport kevlar mesh pants are great. I took them on a quick 10 mile loop and they allowed me to stayed cool even though it was over 95 degrees. They flow air very well and feel as protective as my Hein Gericke leather race pants. They make my other mesh gear look like a toy. I can put...

    New Helmet? Gloves? Body Armour?

I have a Vanson perforated leather jacket, but when it is smoking hot (AZ regularly gets above 105 degrees), it retains too much heat. Particularly when at lights or when running around town. I have a Vanson mesh jacket that has cordura & leather along the outside of the arms, shoulders and...

    New Helmet? Gloves? Body Armour?

Actually over pants and a jacket are easier to put on than a strap on armor set. A jacket is what it is. With over pants, just make sure it has a full length side zipper. It is as quick as a jacket to put on. If you are willing to spend the dough, get a mesh set and you won't be too hot even...

    New Helmet? Gloves? Body Armour?

Helmets are all about fit, so you have to try them on. See if the stores around you will price match online pricing. I believe the HJC fits similar to the Shoei helmets if I am not mistaken. Shoei helmets fit me well and are very durable. I used to ride 100% of the time for about a decade...

Hey guys I'm back and need some advice

As long as the other side isn't beat up too bad, I would definitely get it. Hopefully the ad doesn't have the good side showing. The leaks should be pretty easy to fix, although it could be a sign of more damage. You really have to see it in person to tell. But yes, I would buy it for $1500.

Cant get rear axel to break free

PB Blaster does wonders. Spray it and give it overnight to soak in. Then blast it again. They probably didn't use anti seize when the PO put the axle on. They made have even put thread locker on it. Heat it as that will melt the thread locker.

    service manual questions

Check out www.buellsterparts.com, they have manuals pretty cheap. I like the printed manuals so I can have them with me in the garage.

Cheap levers off of Ebay are junk.

06xbss: My levers look exactly like the ones you linked to. I didn't order them, but I bet they are the same. The only difference was the ones I got were yellow instead of black. When they arrive, use your factory levers to compare the two. If it is off, you will see it right away. Just...

Cheap levers off of Ebay are junk.

As a heads up again, the cheap Chinese levers off of Ebay can cause problems. My used 2004 XB12S came with a set already installed. It is enough out of spec to cause the front brakes to lock up. I compared it to the factory set and it is about 1/8" to 1/4" off. It doesn't allow the extra...

Need help on buying a used buell

Sorry, if I can't trade the spare plastic, its going to get painted. Keep an eye out on EBay, cheap scuffed up plastics pop up all the time.

    Gas Mask

You can always post a Want To Buy (WTB) ad on the various gun boards (AR15.com, Subguns.com). State that you don't need it to be working as you want it for a cosmetic bike project. Many gun guys have surplus stuff sitting around and would gladly sell a non-functional gas mask. Also check...

Need help on buying a used buell

Get on the phone and talk with the owner. Ask him about the bike and get him talking. That is the first step in finding out about the bike. Feel the person out. Do they sound honest or are they flighty? If they feel less than honest, you will know to proceed with more caution than normal or...
