    Finding the wright Brake Pads

FA345 is for the 6 piston Original ZTL caliper FA454/4 is for the 8 piston ZTL2 caliper, four pads per caliper as noted by the /4. https://www.ebcbrakes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/EBC_US_MC_CAT_WEB_304.pdf Page 18 shows the 2009/2010 Firebolts using the ZTL2 pads. Page 326 shows what the...

Draining oil from crank case for oil inspection

If the check valves and oil pump are behaving, there shouldn't be much oil in the crankcase, right? Just what was dripping down from the heads/etc when you shut it down. I'd drain the swingarm, and if you're feeling extra cautious drain the oil feed line to the oil pump, and the oil cooler via...

    Soft front brake

The master is the high point in the system, so I'd try some bleeding there next. My normal technique is to pop the resi cap off, make sure the resi is around half full, and have some paper towels handy, this can cause spurts/splashes. Give the lever four or five slow full squeezes and slow...

Assuming similar mechanical condition, keep an '06 or an '09?

Ducati's from this era think the XT's turning radius is just fine, stop talking about it...

I've already had the two bolts out in the past to clean the slides and drill them for wiring, so was pretty easy. Pop the bolts, caliper out, let the pads swing to the side and clamp the piston back with a light vice grip. Wrench and hose on the bleeder, crack it and pump and within three pumps...

Putting the right Ulysses peg bracket back together without taking the rear brake assembly off the bike, what a PITA... and... I gotta take the rear brake caliper off anyways to get a good bleed on it. D-oh! Also, is it just me or is there barely any slack on the rear brake switch lead? It's...

    2009 XB12Ss Overheating

Rev-Mo ended up getting my whole pump to go over when I couldn't get good pressure out of a rebuild, so they had it in their hands to review.

    2009 XB12Ss Overheating

I fought that Q#$^@! O-Ring multiple times when I attempted to rebuild my pump... happy to hear it was actually the wrong o-ring and not (likely still some) user error. :D

I went one step further on my de-heat-gripping when setting up for racing, got the switch cluster without the heated grip switch. Any reason not to use the AUX power feed the grips pulled from in OEM config for powering aftermarket grips?

Yup, my machine is an 08, though T-Rex has kits for the earlier machines too IIRC. If you actually get a discount for saying my name, or hell if they even recognize it, I'll be floored. :D On the connectors, they're cheap enough new that I've bought a crimper and a couple sets of connectors...

Sliders are T-Rex kit, seems pretty solidly designed.

I can't find any full wiring diagrams for them, are they dual element like the Buell OEM heated grips, aka suitable for running off the OEM switch and harness?

Anyone figured out a replacement for Buell heated grips yet?

6000k color temp is a bit blue for my tastes, that high beam also seems pretty hyper focused to one spot? I think I’ll just put some good H7 bulbs in the stocker and remind myself that the goal is to make it inspectable / safe first, nice later if I am going to hang onto it.

I have a set of Delphi Weatherpack style connectors I was contemplating using, I don't think i have the right crimper for the OEM style it shipped with?

Started putting the Uly back to street mode. Short a few bits that I mangled in my 'ooopsie' when I first tracked it... Fishing out the MotoAmerica required tank foam SUCKS. My headlights had a half bodged LED bulb conversion, including tossing the OEM connector to the harness for butt crimps...

    Lower is Better?

There is one XB12XT used shock on eBay in the US right now, seems like there were a LOT more a few months ago, including lots of NOS units? There is a used Ohlins from an XB12SS too, I believe that'll be too short for your goals though?

"New" Reg / Rect has me at 14.34v at idle with a slightly discharged batt, 14.43v at revs, charging system is back and my neutral light has never been brighter. I suspect I lost the charging system VERY early on given how bright it is now. I'm still going to replace that switch as the...

Used OEM reg/rect on the way from eBay. For the price, I'm willing to give it a go. Two used OEM units on eBay, and about 200 of the Chinese clone for just under twice the cost of that used unit. Double that cost and I can get MOSFET unit that will require new connectors to be installed, and...
