    Trading down - XB12X to XB9

Some of the tire age issue comes from Uncle Sam. DOT on passenger and light trucks tires cannot legally be installed or repaired after 5 years old. Also Comercial tires casings cannot be retreaded if over five years old. But there’s more. Rubber break hoses and any tire over 10 years old DOT...

    Not good !

Also post some pictures there are parts available from members on here. You could probably withdraw your claim as well to keep the bike.

    Not good !

I would not let them have it before having a bike shop estimate what it would cost to fix it. Did it dent the frame?

I’m new to the forum and I’m getting my first Buell.

Good looking bike! It also has an XT shock on the rear. I can’t tell from the picture it may also have the shorter forks as well. If you measure between the seal and the lower bracket on the forks I just checked my XT might be some variation but 4 5/16in. At 5’8” you wouldn’t even close to flat...

    Jerks messing with Lois

I put a set of those on a Blast. They could be brighter but not bad. You don’t need resistors for them they are sequential and don’t work with a flasher. Make a jumper to replace the flasher and they work great.

2001 Buell Blast - starts and idles fine BUT sputters/backfires/dies when on throttle

Check your carb boot/coupler for cracks, pretty common if the carb was moving around. Vacuum leaks will burn a piston on those bikes. I have replaced several pistons and top end gaskets on Blasts with 2000 to 18000 miles on them and not had further problems.

Looking for XT fairing stay headlight assembly ect…..

Just picked up an XT that found something it couldn’t push out of the way with its headlights. The lock and wiring are salvageable but everything else is fubar forward of the forks.

    Belt loss and sprocket options

Borrow the wife’s sonic care toothbrush use a little rubbing compound and take off the overspray. I have used my wife’s toothbrush and it works great for those tight spots! Just buy her a new head for it and “loose” the old one before she gets home. AND never tell her how well it works…...

99% rubbing alcohol does a good job of cleaning the frame before reapplying the frame pucks.

    Xb12r isolator mount

I have some solid ones I can ship now. KZ6FITTYCENT has one in his bike for a while now. He says the vibration is a little more noticeable but steering feedback and feel is improved.

    Three wire O2 sensor???

Will do. I am going to try seeing how long it takes to get to closed loop with and without the heater plugged in. Does the head temperature sensor have any function (like a coolant temperature sensor) to get to closed loop or only for overheating? My guess is overheating only.

    Three wire O2 sensor???

No thoughts on this? I do a lot of short trips and minor fouling has been a little annoying and I think this will help.

    Three wire O2 sensor???

Okay I have replaced many single wire O2’s with heated ones on throttle body injection cars and trucks. One of the most common the Chevy astro van. On the neighborhood soccer mom’s van a heated sensor gets the ecm to closed loop in seconds instead of minutes and doesn’t cool on extended idle...
