    How to remove the seat.

Mine had the tidy tail installed when I bought it, and it is a little sticky to remove. Here are the steps I use: 1. Put key into the seat lock and turn. 2. Using both hands, grab both sides of the seat and using a slight downward pressure, give it a yank backwards. Sometimes I grab the...

    RAIN Running Issues

Do you have the open airbox mod? If so, it is probably a saturated air filter causing the engine to starve for air. Mine does that when it is raining hard. However, mine only does that when there is rain, not in normal operating conditions.

    Leaking rear rocker cover

You sure it is the rocker box cover leaking or the PCV valve? Seems like I see a lot of forum posts on the rubber tube connecting to the PCV valve not being properly zip-tied, causing a leak. If that is the case, tightening the zip-tie will fix it.

    Replacing the primary chain

Lol I was able to remove both the engine sprocket and the clutch basket sprocket at the same time. I guess there are two ways to do the same thing.

    Replacing the primary chain

How do you pull the clutch basket/sprocket without pulling the engine sprocket? The chain doesn't have enough slack for me to pull the basket off without moving the engine sprocket out at the same time...

    Replacing the primary chain

Crash is correct. I meant the nut holding the clutch basket/sprocket for the primary chain. You wouldn't remove the drive sprocket on the right side of the bike anyways.

Help!! stuck in first and nutrul.

Have you adjusted the clutch? I would adjust the clutch properly and if that doesn't fix it, there may be more serious issues. Clutch adjustment is pretty quick and easy to do, so tick it off the list before going with taking your primary cover off.

Chunks on the primary drain plug

I found chunks of metal on my primary drain plug recently. The pieces were slightly curved and I searched all over for any posts of anyone else who had these symptoms. Finding none, I removed my primary and got to work. I decided to post my findings so that anyone else who finds similar...

    Replacing the primary chain

You will have to remove both sprockets to remove the chain and install the new chain. You will also need the sprocket locking bar to loosen the bolt and nut. Make sure you have a breaker bar handy and a heat gun if the bolt and nut give you trouble. I literally just did the job this morning...

Does this sound right for a fuel pump?

I know... I have to find a weekday that I'm not working and get a hall pass from the wife to get down there one of these days. I still have a hard starting issue when the bike has been sitting for several hours. Wish you guys were closer :sorrow:

    Lots of issues

I've got two actuators buried in the garage... One from a 2006 xb12, and one from a 2009 xb12. I'm thinking one of those may be of use to you?

Does this sound right for a fuel pump?

It is that second part that sounds odd to me, but then again I am a novice when it comes to fuel pumps. I guess the stock one has a more quiet and consistent whirring instead of the loud slow whirring ending with what I equate to two porcupines trying to mate?

Does this sound right for a fuel pump?

Does my new fuel pump sound broken? Just installed an ACDelco EP274 fuel pump with new strainer and filter... The sound is not pretty... My old pump had a high pitch whirring sound that wasn't nearly as loud or slow as the new pump. Thoughts? https://youtu.be/QdzINUdZyos

Hard start after sitting for several hours.

Ok, I pulled the pump, replaced the pump, filter, strainer and reinstalled. I also replaced the battery with one I had picked up recently. Bike runs fine, but still has the hard starting issue when it has been sitting for several hours. Anyone have any ideas of any other possible causes for...

DIY Fuel pump fix. Cheaper than replacement from HD

Just did my fuel pump, strainer, and filter on my 09 xb12scg. For those of you with 08+ bikes, note that the strainer is different from earlier years (the connector to the strainer is much smaller and offset from the center of the pump). When I replaced my fuel pump I used a pump listed in the...

    EcmDroid capabilities/know how

For 2008+, TPS reset is done without ecmspy or ecmdroid. There are posts on this forum on the specifics, but very easy.

2005 XB9? 20K miles What to look for?

Pre 2008 xb's had the weaker crank, so I would take a telescopic magnet and check the oil tank for metal shavings. If your magnet comes up with shavings, you are probably looking at a failing crank.

    Cooling fan trouble...

Ecmdroid works on 08'+. You just can't use it to do the TPS reset.
