Broken exhaust studs, I have my weekend work cut out for me.

So HD did have the studs, but no nuts. I had to visit a nut and bolt shop to get those. Also got a long bolt and nuts for the lower mount. I took the advise and drilled a hole for a split pin, sorry for for cell phone pic. Installed bolt with a nyloc, then a washer with the split pin against...

Broken exhaust studs, I have my weekend work cut out for me.

Well a good prayer is never out of place. Lower one came out with a pair of mole grips after removing the reg/rectifier. Top one was a bit more challenging . Forced an M7 13mm nut on, and arc welded it onto the stud, then backed it all out with a socket spanner. Time spent in total, less than an...

Broken exhaust studs, I have my weekend work cut out for me.

Great idea on the pin, will certainly look at that option. There are no Buell part suppliers here, and South Africa is a metric country. Is there a Harley equivalent for the exhaust stud ? That would make my life a lot easier. Its a sweet machine, resprayed in candy apple red (As per wife's...

    Front brake question

The front brakes on my bike work well enough, not soft or anything, but they only "take" about an inch from the bars. I have bled several times, and theres no sign of air in the system and no leaks, they are as hard they should be, but have far too much play. Is this a known issue, or am I...

To put this into context, when we ride anywhere, her bike does attract a lot of attention, for various reasons 1. Its a unique bike 2. It has a unique paint job. 3, Its ridden by a unique woman. But I know what side my bread is buttered on so I ask her what she wants done.... Can I paint her...

Now as you all know, a happy wife makes a happy husband. Heres a bit of history as to how I got to this position. Bought my wife her Buell, XB9SX in 2005. It was a code 3 (Damage to frame (tank)), I believe this is a salvage title in the US. Due to cost of replacing, insurance writes them off...

Well progress has been made again this weekend. The really not so fun stuff. Got a sample piece of punched 1,5mm plate. Holes were 2,5mm, so I drilled them out to 4mm and then de-burred them with a 6,5mm bit. So that was about 1200 hole drilled, and the de-burred...as I said, the fun stuff...

I havent been idle on this, just managed to lose the SD card for my camera somewhere between home and office. That means for now these are phone pictures of poor quality. Some plastic welding Using the cable tie method to remove tyre. Yes I ran out of cable ties and had to improvise. Yes...
