    Race Buell Improvement Thread

I'm not that particular about tires, but still 100% concur with that assessment of Dunlops vs Pirelli. Recently have had some supplier issues causing me to swap back and forth on the last couple rounds, NOT recommended:down: If your a slidy-slide sort of rider then Pirellis speak loudly to what...

    Seeking New Tires Suggestions

Huh? Massive companies don't make some crap products:confused: All I'm saying is going the cheap option because you 'can't afford it' is a terrible way to make decisions. Look at the WHOLE picture, not just the purchase price. If you are really asking if there are some super cheap/amazing...

They'll last three times longer than those cheap Conti's. And be better the whole time. Up to you:up:

There is no half-assing an engine with a missing piston. For parts, or total teardown only. Sorry you got hosed:(

You can get an Endoscope that wi-fi connects to your phone for about $25. Stick it down the spark plug holes and see whats what.

I appreciate the low-down on whats going on. I was curious why the BIG change, but it does make sense the way you think about it. I wanted to race AACT after lightweight because a 400lb, 120hp machine is a good 'step-up' without the bat**** craziness of the 200hp Gold Cup big dogs. Well, guess...

Are they just stacking that class to fill a grid? Or is it that Moto A just doesn't care about them?

    New Tires, New Bearings

Congrats on a job well done! Don't get me started on flaring brake lines without the fittings on:black_eyed: Ya, you can but it will take something real hard or real expensive. My go to for a high mile performance tire is the Michelin Pilot Road series (currently 6). They are a little more...

    New Tires, New Bearings

I have a nasty habit of getting the bearings back in perfectly! ...And then seeing the spacer I left on the table:mad-new:

Dang, that's terrible news just because you have to race with the big boys. They might change again if they can fill a grid? You could still club race though. It could be competitive in a more run-what-ya-brung class.

    How Hard Is It?

If you warm it with a heat gun, you can use fishing line to slice through the adhesive.

    Airbox intake removal?

There should be a (black) inner airbox cover directly under it. But even if that has been deleted, I doubt you can see color through that grill. If you insist on removing it, sure, break it off and then hot glue, maybe JB weld would hold it back together on those tabs?

The black part the surrounds the gas filler? Masking tape:eagerness:

    6 Axis ABS + XB12?

They have mentioned it before, maybe the XB/ AIM dash plug-n-play video? Anyway they mentioned it again in the latest vid (about the 7 min mark IIRC) and I thought about this thread.

    New Tires, New Bearings

If an 8mm (equivalent to 5/16" is too small than ya, I 3/8" is the key. The KEY! Get it!?!?! Puuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.... I wouldn't worry about the little bit of rust either but they should definitely spin by hand, the bearing spacer in the middle can rotate with them.

    New Tires, New Bearings

IIRC that pinch bolt needs a 5/16" allen wrench for removal, and the torque is less than you want it to be. Remember it's threading into aluminum and every person before you has already over torqued it:down: Sometimes with age, corrosion, and use I am unable to knock out the bearing (EVENLY)...
