Trip report, PNW to CO and back

Favorite overall road (scenery and twisties): Where my fuel pump fuse blew, inhospitable, desolate wasteland: Smoke in the Columbia River gorge: Downed trees east of Mt. St. Helens. At least we could rider under or around them:

Trip report, PNW to CO and back

Got back to Poulsbo here in the Pacific NW about a week ago after a 2.5 week, 4,900 mile ride. Made it all the way down to southern CO to Silverton and Durango before heading home. Avoided super slabs except for the stretch from Grand Junction, CO to Pocatello, ID. There are backroads in some of...

    Questions about ECM and exhaust

Old pump, even at only 15k miles? Maybe should just replace it rather than rebuild it. Here's one on ebay for $156: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-NEW-2008-2009-BUELL-XB-FUEL-PUMP-ASSEMBLY-P0130-5AA/143737022705?hash=item217764e8f1:g:63sAAOSwvh5fX5oq Any idea what the rebuilt kits cost?

    Questions about ECM and exhaust

Greetings. I just returned from a 2.5 week, 4,900 mile trip through the west on my 08 sb9sx with some friends. Camped the whole way. Hadn't camped on a motorcycle trip since the 80s! Bike ran great until my fuel pump fuse blew at 80mph in Utah on the way home. Swapped the "Aux" fuse (also 10...

Mixing brands (not weights) of oil

FYI, I did not mix oils. :)

    WTB: XB9SX OEM exhaust

I have one from my 08' xb9sx I'd sell for $120 plus shipping. It's in good shape. No separate mounting hardware included though. Shipping wise, my zip code is 98370. I can send pics if interested.

    Came back to Buell

I'm on my third xb9sx. Learned my lesson now. Keeping this one. My evolution:

Mixing brands (not weights) of oil

Royal Purple and Redline are very good oils. Just different brands. Valvoline's fine too.

Mixing brands (not weights) of oil

I'll be changing my xb9sx's oil soon. I have various brands of 20w50 oil by Redline, Royal Purple (both synthetic) and Valvoline (not synthetic). Would I be totally insane to mix such brands of oil to use them up? I've used semi-synthetic oil in other motorcycles I've owned, but I suppose...

    Friggin exhaust stud broke!!

I had an exhaust stud break on my old xb9sx. Took it to a machinist who tig welded a hex head bolt onto it, and was then able to wrench it out. However it took him FIVE attempts to do this since the first 4 times the bolt broke off when twisting it. He was just about to give up on the 5th time...

    Scored

Here are some pics of that screen. I haven't tried adjusting it yet, but I like the wind protection a lot. Don't know the manufacturer. There are some weird cut outs in the metal adjusting plates that may indicate the name, but I'm not familiar with them.

The Rise and Fall of Buell video

Forgive me if someone's already posted a link to this (I searched and didn't see one), but I recently watched all 3 parts of "The Rise and Fall of Buell". Thought it was great. Here are links to all 3 parts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkGNvL5Knb8...

Howdy all. Haven't posted here for years. I just bought my third XB9SX (City) yesterday. Bought my first one in 2010, then another a few years ago, and now this new one. Have had all kinds of bikes in between, but now realize I simply like XB9s better than anything. Even my old Ducati...

    Brake pads replacement

Old thread I know, but user_deleted's instructions say to "a tiny dab of anti-seize recommended on threads of each (mounting) bolt". The manual on the other hand says to "Apply LOCTITE 271 (red) and tighten both caliper mounting fasteners to 35-37 ft-lbs". So what is it? anti-seize compound or...

    Dim neutral light, not starting

I borrowed some wd-40 from the motel we're staying at, and shot some into the housing around the yellow starter button. Starts right up now! No neutral light, but I'll deal with that when I get home. Thanks all.
