    Dim neutral light, not starting

Hi all, I saw a related thread on this, but my situation's a bit worse. My neutral light is either off or dim when my City X is in neutral. It won't start regardless of whether the clutch is engaged or not. I'm on a trip up in British Columbia with some friends now, and we're having to bump...

    Oil temperature

No, it's Fahrenheit. Here are pics of the thermometer in the oil cap. It's about 3/8" shorter than the original plastic dip stick, but it's still plenty long enough to be immersed in oil at a stand still. The end of the green paint on the probe matches the upper level fill line on the original...

    Oil temperature

OK, so I installed a thermometer in my XB9SX's oil cap per the suggested mod I saw here. Works like a charm and looks pretty spiffy. I took a ride the other day, air temp outside was in the low 40s. I rode for about an hour, so the bike was fully warmed up. The thermometer read about 135...

    Painting frame/swingarm?

I'm not a painter, but I did paint a Suzuki VX800 once in my garage with PPG automotive paint. What a f@#$ing hassle. Had to make a paint booth with plastic, exhaust fan, filtered air intake, heater, sprayed the floor with water to hold dust down, but it came out GREAT. I brought the tank in to...

    Bought an xb9sx

He actually just bought it in 2008. The title even says it's a 2007. He just assumed it was an 08 when we talked. Just wired it up for my heated vest. Route0766, that is a beautiful bike. Is the cover for the front belt cog off for appearance's sake? I was actually driving in a car behind my...

    Bought an xb9sx

Picked up my new (to me) 2007 xb9sx with only 2,200 miles. Rode it home in sub-45 degree conditions this morning. Did a final test drive up the highway and back before handing over the cash. It's perfect except for having 6 year old tires. The guy told me it was a 2008 and I asked for the VIN #...

I'm back. Is this a good deal?

Hey there. I've been away from this forum for a couple of years since I sold my last Lightning. It developed a couple of broken exhaust studs and a leak at the rear cylinder head. $700 in repairs at the local HD later I sold it. Since then have owned a Ducati Multistrada and now own a Moto Guzzi...

    Header bolt repair. Help!

I talked to the Harley shop. They have a "Buell guy" who works as a mechanic, and the service rep on the phone rides a Buell. I suppose there's hope. They quoted me 3 hrs labor to rotate and unrotate the engine, and then time and materials for the stud replacements. Hell, they may just be...

    Header bolt repair. Help!

I had a mechanic/engineer remove a broken exhaust stud from my front head and replace it. He had to weld a bolt onto the stud to twist it out, and it took five attempts to remove it successfully. I now find that the rear header pipe is completely loose from the rear head. No nuts or studs...
