    Clutch cable mod

I broke the crappy little wire clutch cable holder when replacing my clutch cable. Heard bad things about them breaking and then frying cables on the header. Soooo, I made a sturdier bracket from angle aluminum. Used leftover hose from my breather mod to protect the clutch cable where it goes...

Help with finishing clutch cable installation

End of saga: Went to the hardware store with my cables and a 5/15x24tpi nut threaded on fine to both cables. Bought a 5/16x24 bolt to test-thread into the primary cover. Went home, bolt threaded in fine. Putzed with the cable more and it threaded in fine.

Help with finishing clutch cable installation

And yet more... I called Iron Machine. They said that the trailing letter on the part number means nothing. It's just a newer part that superseded the old. He said the screw machine that manufactured the part could have been off and the part may be defective. I actually cleaned up the threads...

Help with finishing clutch cable installation

I read the manual, you have to remove the clutch adjusting plate. It's easy. Unfortunately I now find that I have the wrong clutch cable. The threaded sleeve that threads into the primary housing is ever so slightly larger in diameter than mine, so it won't thread in. Now I see the part numbers...

Help with finishing clutch cable installation

I'm replacing the clutch cable on a 2007 xb9sx. How do you remove the clutch cable end from the bracket inside the primary housing? See picture below. The space between the red arrows isn't deep enough to slide the cable end back enough to release it. There's plenty of slack in the cable as I've...

    plastic buffing?

I got kit a Walmart for this for less than $20. It came with the following: - A 2 or 3" wide velcro faced attachment for an electric drill - A coarse sponge pad for applying coarser rubbing compound - A fine sponge pad for applying fine polishing compound - A 3000 grit sanding pad - A small...

WTB Handguards, generic handguard fit question

Am looking for hanguards that would fit a 2007 xb9sx. Has anyone ever fit non-Buell (cheap) hanguards on an xbsx? I'm just looking for wind protection.

    Fork rebound adjustment question

konarider4, I have a 2007 xb9sx. Would the manual you mention apply to my forks?

    Fork rebound adjustment question

Those videos look great. So if I wanted to minimize what I did to fixing the adjusting screw, would I only need to remove the top adjusting assembly after compressing the spring and loosening the locknuts, and then somehow fix how the adjusting screw seats?

    Fork rebound adjustment question

nilla, I've never dismantled or reassembled a fork. Any chance you (or someone?) could describe specifically how to do it? And what exactly would you fix for this condition?

    Fork rebound adjustment question

When I tighten my fork rebound adjusting screws all the way clockwise before unscrewing them the recommended number of turns, one is flush and the other is way recessed compared to the other (see pics). Is this normal or acceptable? Or is something wrong? Left side. Right side.

The question is to Header wrap or not

The prior owner wrapped my pipes and then removed the wrap for some reason. It took a lot of sanding and polishing to get rid of the staining from the wrap. I decided not to rewrap the pipes for two reason. One; someone mentioned the "steam bath" you get when riding in the rain. I don't...

    Frame puck install procedure

This isn't really a mod, but if you've been wondering how frame pucks get installed, here's how. What you get when you order a set of frame pucks from GR Harley. Pucks with adhesive backing, activator and instructions. They're about $50 from GH Harley. Here's the direct URL at the time of this...

    Clutch cable source

Where's the best/cheapest place to buy a replacement clutch cable for an '07 xb9sx? I've searched on line and found them at ironmachine.com for $59, but that seems pricey. Barnett makes them for Harleys, but are there any Barnett cables that are interchangeable? Should I expect my local Harley...

    Backfire?

Hi all, I just bought a 2007 XB9sx today with 13k miles on it. Love it and have been reading about and lusting after a Buell for months now. Just wondering if the following noise/behavior is normal. When I decelerate while still in gear I hear gentle "pop" and "putt" noises. They sound like very...
