Its not so much the strength of the bottom end. Its because the 9 has a shorter stroke so by default it can rev higher. The 12 is 3.5x3.8 and the 9 is 3.5x3.1.

    2009 XB12 Long won't start

Download a manual from buellmods.com It has basically step by step procedures to check everything you need to check in the electrical section. It has flowcharts to walk you through it and procedures that basically tell you how to do it. If you cant follow the flowcharts and the manual you are...

    2009 XB12 Long won't start

Humble brag much. If you cant diagnose a simple 12 volt electrical system on motorcycle with a $15 meter you don't know how to use the $2k one either. Hell, you can buy an oscilloscope for less than $2k. You're an asshat, just saying.

Best exhaust stud drill plate tool? Jims vs. CFU?

Always back off taps after a few turns when doing it by hand. Until you get the feel for it just go slow and clean it out frequently. With the threads of the bolt left behind in the hole the tap will probably start to bind as it tries to push the threads out. This is where you want to take...

Best exhaust stud drill plate tool? Jims vs. CFU?

Some questions: - do I need cutting fluid/paste or penetrating oil? Anything to reduce friction will help, motor oil, penetrating oil. Don't need to buy anything special but dry is not preferred when cutting steel. - how do I know when to stop drilling w/ the Jims? You should be able to tell...

Best exhaust stud drill plate tool? Jims vs. CFU?

Its just a 1/4" drill, not a 5/16". No need to pilot drill it. I have the Jims tool. It worked so well keeping the drill centered on the stud/hole I was able to pull out the remaining threads of the bolt like it was a helicoil insert. I was able to reuse the existing threads in the head after...

    Buell xb12r no second gear

Sounds like the dog gears are rounded off a little on 2nd gear. When you jump on the throttle they pop apart. Have to replace the second gear set. Same thing happened to my dirtbike on 5th gear. It could also be a bent shift fork which don't allow the dogs to fully engage. The more it...

FREE MONEY!! i got mine...now get yours

Did lunatic get hacked? Never enter the last 6 of your ssn. The first 3 is based on what state you were born in. For example Pennsylvania is between 159-211. Many states only have 1-3 possibilities though. If you enter in your name and an address with the last 6 of your ssn it can be pretty...

Head Gasket Replacement Technique - MLS

This is correct but its not just aftermarket. I had to take out one of the rivets with stock components. Its pretty easy to tell if a rivet is going to prevent the surfaces from coming together or not. I followed the torque sequence per the manual and did not use o-rings as instructions with...

    Tail of the Dragon

That was at the end of April. I wasn't there but sounds like it went mostly well. A couple of Buell riders were injured from what I heard.

That light blue #2 car looks to be a porsche 917. Really cool history surrounding that car. They just had a special about it on the new grand tour episode.

    Great day for a ride.

Well the post read like it was copied from somewhere so I googled it (typo and all) and found the location pretty quick. I thought it was a cool memorial. Then while looking at street view I just copied the url from google maps. It sounds complicated but it was actually pretty easy to find...
