Left at 5pm this morning to go to an adventure riding day about 200kms away. Mist was thick and crazy this morning! Filling up: About 100kms further I started noticing a slight wobble in the rear. Got worse and stopped at next town to find right rear wheel bearing is toast! Got the "good"...

    Exhaust clamps

Yay! What an unbelievable experience! Drove around Tuesday to every hose supplier, agricultural store in my area and nobody had clamps exactly like the Buell exhaust ones. I was told, sorry, HD for you! I have to replace all 3! Trolled internet and found a company on the other side of the...

    Epic trip!

Some sections were rough! Shaking the filling out of your teeth rough! Those were the only areas were the Buell got left behind a bit. The 17" vs 21" front wheel on the BMW and longer suspension travel meant that as a beginner my buddy was able to outride me, though I tried to catch up as best...

    Epic trip!

Up early next morning and hit the road amped for more dirt road riding. A few kms in we hit hardcore corrugated (sinkplaat as we call it in Afrikaans) road and I was sure I heard something break and sure enough, there was the every familiar exhaust strap rattle... Turns out the fixed strap...

    Epic trip!

A buddy and myself left Friday afternoon about 1:30 to head into the mountains. I was a bit nervous, as I had the new Karoo 3 on (fitted a few hours earlier and not even ridden in). Tire felt weird, but anyway... Went through 3 mountain passes to our first fuel stop and picking up supplies and...

    What tires do you have?

Finding Perellis was a nightmare... Long story short: new dealers for South Africa = limited stock at moment... Ended up with a Metzeler Karoo 3 (170 60/17) as it was all I could find. Looks pretty cool though! Hitting the dirt later this afternoon for the whole weekend - can't wait! OOH...

    Dual Sport Style Helmet? Pros/Cons?

I have a cheapie - came with clear and tinted visor. Took some getting used to - fits good for cheap helmet, more wind noise and slight distoprtion, but used to it now. I still have my proper Shoei. Just can't afford the Shoei DS helmets.... :(

    New project

Indeed Big twin! [up] Originally bought it for the fridge and then thought it would look great on the little bike. Still have to finish it up with new jets and petcock, but waiting for our silly exchange rate to get a bit better...

Removing rear wheel on a Uly

I use heavy duty ratchet straps and hook it to the roof's beams, and hook it back onto itself. Other hooks I hook through Uly's rear handles. 5 mins, works a charm.

    New project

It is showing up fine in my browser, anybody else not seeing it? Anyway, the little one on the right is the fridge being restored. There is another one to the left that needs to be done. Inside is nearly perfect: Took off the door this morning, stripped and cataloged screws and fasteners...

    New project

Starting a business (design and strategy) with a partner and we need to get some office space ready. Bought this 1950s fridge 3 years ago, with "some rust at bottom". Guys covered it up with this: The rust: Plan is to make repair sections, weld in and respray in powder blue colour...

Exhaust valve question for cabel removal

Servo cable = 0, Wally (via lawdog) =1. Went about disabling the exhaust valve and servo. Lawdog's direction were spot on and it works 100%! Thanx again! As soon as I unhooked the exhaust side, I was left with this: Just in time!
