2004 Buell XB12R Firebolt, just acquired, now runs for first time in 5 years!

...and another one awakens from the dead. Make sure the first thing you do is get a 1275 kit. From there you will need to purchase a hard tail Buell chopper kit, remove the fuel injection and add a carb. Now you will have yourself a ridiculously looking oversized big wheel. I’ll be happy to take...

    Aftermarket windscreen XB12r

I have an aftermarket tinted zero gravity which is longer and helps with pushing the wind up over my head with the risers but esthetics alone I think my orange stock one transitions much smoother with the nose fairing where they meet and if the wind didn’t catch me in the chin I’d have the stock...

Fuel pump not priming but works on it's own

Hope it all works out with the new ECM. The 6 volts is an indication of a bad ground(ed) conductor or lack there of usually and the meter will give you a semi reading through the leads, which is why DMM aren't for higher voltages, if you have a loose connection they can still pick up a...

Fuel pump not priming but works on it's own

Yes the diode scale is directional but if the connector at the ecm is off and the pump connector is disconnected then this should isolate the wires and if you had b/y and gray jumped at the connector or pump then you should read a dead short with polarity either way and OL between the two when...

Fuel pump not priming but works on it's own

If you know that the brown/yellow is the ground for the pump and the gray signal wire provides 12v then check the gray from the pump to a good ground you should get 12v if so you are getting signal. If you only get 6 v to the brown and yellow then most likely the ground wire is the culprit. You...

    04 XB12r died on me

...you could also unplug the fuel pump connector attached to the rear left frame rail right above the fuel pump, just follow the wire and use a multi meter looking for 12ish volts dc, that would be quick and easy

    04 XB12r died on me

Assuming You took care of this with your last Buell but if you don’t have a service manual go to Buellmods.com and download one for free. It’s always wise to purchase the Buelltooth dongle or install ecmspy on your laptop but you will still need to order the cable for communication to the bike...

    New user, new bike

Yes, I was talking about the timing cover but it’s easy enough to rivet on, ive done it a few times myself, still a nice bike. Welcome to the forum

Looks like the mechanical timing was played with or the CPS was replaced?

    Xb12r backfire

It could be multiple things, most likely or hopefully not all at once but the first thing to do is go to buellmods.com and download your free service manual. Second I highly recommend Buelltooth wireless dongle for a droid with a free app and or ecmspy ( free version or mono the paid version...

XB12r with poor running past 1/4 throttle

What year bike, race or stock ECM and just out of curiosity, what is your AFV at? Also, what is your idle set at including degrees (ecmspy)? What type Of plugs are you using? Did you perform tps reset when the bike was at running temp? Is your throttle bottle boot pushed all the way down and...

    Commuter Buells

Not sure about the 9 but I ride an 05 xb12r with lowered pegs, LSL riser kit eliminates clip ons and TKC 70’s on/ off road tires. I’m 41 and have done many 100 plus one way mile day trips. Though very doable all around as far as comfort goes I always where a back pack so have yet to try bags. I...

    Clutch misadjustment

Is it possible to put that adjustment screw jam nut in backwards? Not even sure if this would matter

    Cooling fan won't come on

IMO Buelltooth dongle with an app is much easier and user friendly, not that ecmspy isn’t

99 X1 Open Loop, Closed Loop

This site does not encourage members to just throw money or parts at your bike but Cooter is 100% right. Also IMHO there really aren't that many parts to these bikes so if you have the finances and are mechanically inclined enough to do the work, it's not the worst thing in the world to have...

    Heat soak shut down.

Ok, 107.3 from what i understand is tolerable but may be high for your bike, 100 is the target number but there is flexibility. My bike runs beautiful at 110% but I bump it to 112% for a smoother steady throttle. Have you pulled the pump yet? Still sounds like a failing pump to me. Mine did the...
