    Belt guard removal

If I remember correctly, early in the XB's life, both the frame and swingarm were cast by Brembo; Buell eventually took over that process and is having it cast elsewhere now.

    Fort Bragg, NC

I highly recommend Carolina Coast HD in Wilmington, but it is a bit of a drive. Ray Price in Raleigh is closer, but not as good of a shop. The other good thing about Carolina Coast is once your get to Wilmington, it's not too hard to get to the beach. Not a bad way to spend the time while...

Well, I replaced the battery, and everything is a go so far. Thanks for the help, y'all.

    Bike won't start

It is 13.4 before hitting the start button - after it drops to 6.5 (under load), then pops back up to it's original voltage after I release the start button.

    Bike won't start

OK, here's the gig - I have an '04 XB-12R, factory race ECM and pipe. When I try to start it, all that happens is a loud clicking sound - the enginge doesn't turn over, and the dash resets itself (clock, trip odometers reset, almost like the battery was disconnected). The battery is pretty...

    Does anyone read Motorcycle Magazines?

Roadracing World and Roadracer X - between the two, they cover just about anything in racing.

    jack stands

The Lockhart-Phillips ones work just fine, and can do it without the spools (that our Buells aren't threaded for anyway).

    Hidden Licence plates?

Back when I raced cars, I would rig my plate with a solenoid that would fold it down at the touch of a button - the same could work for a bike. All you would need to do is mount the plate on a hinge, attach a solenoid and a two-position switch and wire it all to the battery.

Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap

It's only a few hours from here (FT Bragg, NC) - a buddy of mine (on an FZ1) go out there a few times a year. There really is nothing else like it - the Dragon itself is amazing, but there are over 300 miles of good roads surrounding it also. We'll head out for a weekend, do the Dragon a few...

    Front forks dive

It is really difficult (but not impossible) to do it without the fork spring compression tool.

    Hey FIDOSOL......Check this out!

They do the same at Fort Leonard Wood (I had the unfortunate opportunity to go there for a bit). You can argue with the gate guards all you want, but you still can't get on post without the extra belt. Someday I just want to see the statistics that our power ranger belts somehow save lives...

    cold weather

For that bit of riding, I use the Teknic Thunders - they're good all the time to about 40 degrees, and for short stints below that. For anything colder or longer, though, I recommend electric stuff, like Gerbings or Witter.

    battery going dead fast

The same thing was happening to mine (04XB12R) - the dealership ended up putting a new stator in it (under warrantee, luckily).
