ulysses fork swap to 03 xb9s

Why not build on a different bike for something that won't handle? It will look better and probably safer in the long run. Sell the XB and find a Sportster or Big Twin to build off instead.

    Dobek TPI vs today's world

I would clear all the codes once you have the dobeck removed and new map flashed, and see what comes back before changing parts. Often multiple codes trip from a simple issue.

Going to put this on my XB12 this weekend....MO POWA !!!

It's just extra torque to the rear wheel via gear reduction. Fun and most noticeable in 1st gear, lowers top speed (but gets there quicker), and fairly irrelevant in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear, because you can do essentially the same thing by staying in the previous gear with the stock gearing.

My highly modified 2005 Buell Firebolt XB12R - list of mods and upgrades

I know a thing or too about mod-heavy bikes. This is my Ulysses.

Actually I'm picking up a standard height Lightning tomorrow and would be willing to make that swap.

    New Member!!! Introductions and aspirations

I did enter it in the calendar. The headlight/fairing setup is modified and derived from a KTM Duke II. The whole bike is one-off more or less.

Get an SS and put 1125CR forks on it. Black anodized tubes, same length, but 47mm sliders instead of 43mm. I did that on my Uly build (which is nothing like a Uly anymore).

~10% increase in torque, at the expense of ~10% top speed in each gear.

    Help with timesert diy

DON'T use power for drilling. It can walleye the hole and compromise the strength of the timesert. Do all drilling and tapping by hand. The only reason not to do it with it mounted on the bike is because it will get metal shavings in the arm. At minimum, it is best to warm up the bike, then let...

Got me some goodies from Italy yesterday

I sent 4 pulleys over there for there cnc cut, after powdercoating the rears locally. I will be powdercoating the front now after the cut, since they are steel and would rust otherwise. The blue ones are for the XB90R project, as is the pulley cover, and the yellow ones are for Stryper, my Uly...

    Buell open air box booby

Open air box, early or late frame, doesn't matter. That cone helps direct airflow for increased velocity/fill and less turbulence from the negative pressure zone it fills.

    Ever happen to you?

Yeah honestly I was looking for cheap or wrecked Buells to buy for part out, but this popped up and was too nice to part out. Plus dirt cheap for a clean bike, but too much for a part out.

    Ever happen to you?

So I bought an 03 XB9SL last weekend, and finally was able to bring it home today. Initially I bought it for a fix n flip... but now I'm not so sure. The low seat height is very nice, and handles so well also, as it should. My main squeeze is a long frame XB12, so this feels just different...

    Rear brakes

I hose down the caliper piston with brake cleaner to remove brake dust before pushing the piston into the caliper. Otherwise you risk tearing the seal and/or contaminating the brake fluid in the caliper.
