    2009 XB9 ECM tuning questions

I have some questions about what I should do with my XB9. I have been reading over some various threads about ECM tunes and eeprom files, etc., and I admit that a lot of this is over my head. I just want to do what's best for my bike, and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I...

General tuning options and discussion in 2017 (ECMDRoid,ECMSpy etc...)

Hey guys! sorry to hop in on this thread with nothing to add... but I have some questions about what I should do with my XB. I have been reading over this thread and some others, and I admit that a lot of this is over my head. I just want to do what's best for my bike, and am hoping someone...

gone through a few front muffler clamps on my 2009 XB9SX

update... I went to remove the front exhaust mount and bushings to prepare for the new front strap when it comes in... and the bolt holding the mount and bushings in place will not come off. I think the nut and bolt threads stripped and locked. its bad. I cannot remove the bolt. In the past...

gone through a few front muffler clamps on my 2009 XB9SX

SO..... assuming the bushings are not the issue, and the problem is the ovaling of the hole where the bushings sit (which is part of the engine case), there would be no easy fix, correct? besides looking for an aftermarket exhaust that is not dependent on the front mount bushings being...

gone through a few front muffler clamps on my 2009 XB9SX

I have not yet used any torque specs on that nut, because I have no tool that would allow me to do so. SO... I just tightened until I felt there was no issue with the nut loosening by itself and falling off. I admit, I probably tend to over tighten most of the time, but I am working on that ;)...

gone through a few front muffler clamps on my 2009 XB9SX

I have not replaced the aluminum bushings, but I have looked them over, and they look perfect to me. I am aware of the specific exhaust procedure from headers down, due to replacing a set of cracked headers last year. It took me a few tries, and a lot of research, but I know how to do it...

gone through a few front muffler clamps on my 2009 XB9SX

I have had a few exhaust issues in the past, and all of that is behind me now (I hope) BUT, I keep going through front muffler clamps. I know heat and cooling can cause issues with expanding, and so when my last one snapped, I altered it and bought some exhaust mounting springs used for...

heard a lot of noise on the road today

okay... so many weeks later, I am back at it. Here's what happened.... I successfully replaced the headers with a used set I found on ebay, and did a handful of other small changes. New spark plugs, new O2 sensor, added a voltmeter to the instrument cluster, cleaned up a bunch of wiring, New KN...

I got the fuel injector connectors off after I got a better flashlight... I will check out the service manual link... I have an owners manual, but it is pretty basic. Thanks for the help!

heard a lot of noise on the road today

Oh boy... So I have not yet gotten my hands on a new set of pipes, but worst case scenario I can still get a new set from HD within a week for roughly $350., but I am probably going to search out a used option in good shape. In the mean time, I removed the lower exhaust, and front pipe piece...

heard a lot of noise on the road today

UPDATE... I found a guy to drill out the leftover bolt, and replace it. Luckily it was the front pipe, so we could get to it without much hassle. I got one day in to ride for a few hours, and parked it in my garage. When I went out this morning to get it out to ride in to work, I noticed a...

    xb headlight housing repair ???

What is the best way to take apart the headlight housing? I know it is sealed with what looks like silicone, and the two halves are very tight. I don't want to crack the piece. There is 4 tabs that click it in to place around the housing, and I can get a small flat head in enough to barely...

heard a lot of noise on the road today

wow... thanks so much for the offer Lunatic! I will see if I can find a way to make that happen. I am south of Salisbury MD out on the shore, so getting to you will take some planning. How long do you think it might take to do? Can someone tell me the correct threading on the bolt? and what...

heard a lot of noise on the road today

I forgot to mention, it is a 2009 XB9SX I have not yet heard of pipe wrapping leading to any severe issues, and I thought the idea behind it was to help with moving the heat out through the pipe rather than radiating through the walls. I have had a few issues with fiberglass shredding and have...

heard a lot of noise on the road today

I was out today and made a few stops around town. As I pulled away from my last stop, I noticed a bit of a "braaappp" noise along with the exhaust, that I had not heard before. It was not too loud, just a slight addition to the regular motor and exhaust sounds. It kinda went a way after a bit...

    Weird throttle issue at 4Krpm 2009 xb9sx

Sometimes as I'm cruising in 3rd or 4th gear, and am steadily climbing through rpm, when I get to about 4K the power will drop off, or just hold as I am giving it gas, and will kick back in a few moments later if I give it more. I have noticed this a few times, and probably happens about 30% of...

XB9SX 2009 - "check engine" light comes on briefly

the code came up as low voltage... #16. I checked the battery and the positive terminal was a tiny bit loose, so I tightened it, and no more check engine lights.
