    07 Buell XB12STT/Ulysse drive bely

SPHD seems to be doing a good job of supporting Buell's with parts. Generally think we should purchase from them whenever possible.

    Rocker Box Gaskets

Thanks so much BellyBagger, exactly the information I needed! Found James kits for sportsters but no mention of Buell and didn't know if they would fit. My bikes are 07, XB12STT so the kit should fit. What size is your Lightning, 9 or 12?

    Rocker Box Gaskets

I replaced the rear rocker box gaskets on both Buell's years ago with HD/Buell gaskets. Now one bike has developed a small leak and the other is weeping a bit. Going to redo both before the fans get ruined. Would like to use Genuine James gaskets but can't find a supplier. Does Genuine James...

    Ignition coil resistance check.

You generally can't get accurate “Low Ohm Measurements” even with a good quality VOM. On the Primary Winding the only thing you can check with a VOM is continuity. If your resistance readings are accurate, they are probably spiral suppression wires. If so they are still good and superior to the...

    Ignition coil resistance check.

My $.02. -Ignition coils do fail but rarely. -To measure low resistance, (below 10 Ohms) you need a very expensive Low Resistance Ohmmeter. -Buell's use Carbon Suppression wires. -These break down over time increasing resistance and reducing spark energy. -IMO these should almost be considered...

Brake Light / Tail light malfunction

Not good, I went with an LED years ago. Brake light is plenty bright. Google Buell LED Tail Light. They're not that expensive.

    Hydraulic Clutch

Hi Cooter – Thanks for responding and asking. What a wealth of information. Had two wrist/hand surgeries and two months of hand therapy since March. Stitches from the second surgery were removed last Thursday and things are looking up! Finally, no pain and a stronger hand!! Hopefully...

    Hydraulic Clutch

Years ago I installed a 2" Rox Riser and a 1" Precision Machine Riser on my 07 TT Lightning. This allowed me to sit almost upright for long distance riding/cruising. To make this work I had to install the longer Uly clutch cable. The longer Uly cable is harder to pull than the shorter stock...

Best exhaust stud drill plate tool? Jims vs. CFU?

Yes the jigs will work but IMO you shouldn't start with a 5/16" drill bit. Suggestions: -Spray the stud with PT Blaster or other good penetrate. -Go to Harbor Freight and purchase a set of Left Hand drill bits and a set of transfer punches, (they're cheap). -Purchase a "High Quality" regular...

    06 XB12X Sidestand Repair

-I own two 07, XB12STT's -Stand bolts on one of the bikes loosened -It went down in dramatic fashion on a WSF Ferry shearing both bolts -Fellow bikers helped me up and I put the stand in a carry bag -Sat on the bike all the way across Puget Sound -At home my wife held the bike while getting off...

    heat shields

And the stock one doesn't have holes in it, fits better and actually looks pretty good. There is a small benefit from radiant heat. The aftermarket one with the holes probably not so much.

    Clutch Questions

Most of the reviews, (Harley, Metric, Dirt Bikes) were all positive. One guy complained that when he races he always shifts around 4000 RPM and that Autoclutch didn't work much above 3500. Another guy said that when he started his bike in 1st gear without pulling the clutch in the bike took off...

    Clutch Questions

Hey everyone thanks for the great responses, believe me I appreciate them. Without going into a lot of boring detail I had a large cyst removed from my left wrist. I'm 70 and have both Osteo & RA damage in the wrist. Recovery was long and horrendously painful. Hand Surgeon believes my wrist was...

    Clutch Questions

After having Hand/Wrist surgery in March would like to find a way to reduce the force needed to pull the clutch lever. I've reduced clutch lever travel to the minimum but still need to reduce pull force. Searching the web I found several items for Buell's & HD's that reduce clutch lever pull...

    Fu@#ing death wobble

In 72 I bought a new R75/5 Beemer. That bike and the model in general had wobble issues. Problem was caused by one or the other fork binding. One or the other would bind up while the other slid. A couple redesigned parts solved the issue.

    Tapping tank threads

The bolt in question isn't critical and doesn't have a lot of stress on it. Run the correct size tap through the hole and see if you can salvage a few threads. Using ALUMINUM cutting or tapping fluid may increase your odds of success.
