    Selling my baby...

Is the thread starter around at all? I see that this bike was up for sale by him back in September last year, and he's got a Craigslist ad that's ~25 days old. Man, I am having a bear of a time trying to find a 2008-2009 XB12S for sale.

    Selling my baby...

If the bike is still for sale, I'm interested.

Do you have to replace the forks? It's not just an internals swap?

    Painting frame/swingarm?

Instead of the Buell satin black, why not John Deere Blitz Black? I found it for $6-7 a can and once spraypainted a motorcycle's fenders. Turned out pretty well with three coats and the paint it fairly resilient since it's used to protect farm equipment.

    Selling my baby...

How hard is it to lift up the suspension to 12S spec? If the bike is still available two weekends from now I will seriously think about hoping on a flight to MN.

What Year Lightning Should I be Looking at to Purchase?

So, I used to be a Buell owner a LOOONG time ago around 2009-2010. It was a real dark day when Erik posted the video about Buell Motorcycles shutting down. Back then I rode a 2004 XB12S in Japan while I was stationed there. Loved the contrast of an American sportbike powered by an archaic...

duplicate ignition key other than through HD

How can I get a replacement key from HD myself? I have only 1 key that came with the bike when I bought it used. I tried getting a key from the Japanese Buell/HD dealer around here for $85 for two keys, but the ones they ordered for my bike's VIN did not work. Any ideas that wouldn't mean...

Manufacturer's Certificate that meets Japanese Brake Standards ?

I got a XB12S over here in Japan, and it looks like the Stateside brakes and all. One thing - you will spend about $1000 getting it registered - budget for it. Foreign bike registration is supposedly easy, but expensive.

Help Bad Starter?? Battery?? Clicking noise. Have VIDEO

Also make sure your terminal connections are tight. With these paintshakers we ride, I find my battery terminals loose frequently. I think I'm going to get lockwashers.

    looking to the future...

Probably because the Wraith is over $100,000 and the fighter is over $120,000. Overpriced toys for celebrities is all they are. Your basic $10,000 Buell would easily out-handle them. Although if you *really* didn't have to worry about cost, they are definitely interesting enough, and quite...

Anyone ever heard of a Tsukigi Exhaust?

Japanese brand, high quality, usually very expensive. Stainless aluminum has to be a typo, probably meant to put "stainless/aluminum" as the pipe's stainless and the muffler is likely aluminum.

    Fat bar riser clamp...

I'll probably get some fatbars installed when I go back to the States. Lanesplitting here in Japan would be real difficult with wider bars (and it's NARROW here!). Thanks for the pics!

The very last Buell rolling off the line

And it was probably like when we lost our jobs when I worked at Enron long ago. Most were nearly in tears, some were high-fiving. Those that high-fived weren't being idiots - it was just a last "team hurrah". Maybe inappropriate in a larger context, but to them, it's they way they expressed...

The very last Buell rolling off the line

I think you got it all wrong. He's applauding Buell Motorcycle for a run well done. I'd give Eric Buell a round of applause if I could, just for giving us bikes that weren't the same-old-same-old. People react different ways to the same thing, why assume it's with bad intent?

    looking to the future...

Ducati Streetfighter S. And no, you do NOT see those at every corner. I wish they sold in enough numbers to bring the price down to be seen at every corner. I live in Japan, and I see a-LOT of Ducs, and I have yet to see a live one on the street! Plus it's one of the first naked bikes derived...

New Kawasaki Z1000 = Buell ripoff??

I like it.[up] If I were buying a new bike a year or two from now, this would likely be it. As much as I'd love to get a Duc Streetfighter, this is much easier on the wallet. I've got my XB12S however, and I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.

How do I import one of these??

I owned a 1993 CBR250RR. 19,000 rpm redline. :) 40 hp. :( For the cost of importing one, you could easily buy a CBR1000RR if a screamin inline-four is what you want. Plus you'd have at least 120 more hp.

Has anyone in here done this?

Where would you mount the display? In the mirror? Badass if you can make it work and keep it clean-looking![up]
