left the bike out in the rain... now it wont run

I've driven my 12S in the rain...also my old 12R. Along with my 1125CR. No problems with any of them. Mike

    Modifying the radiator shrouds

I removed the divider in mine. The only place it seemed to help is during lane spliting on the way home from work (well...any lane splitting..!). When air is not comming straight at the pod entrance. It didn't seem to do much of anything major anyplace else. If you are having cooling...

ECMspy tps reset and map burning question

What the hell is it with all of the TPS resets...? And the "myths" and "wives tails" continue... Do you even know how the TPS works and how it relates to the ECM's maps? All that it required is an accurate TPS set...then just have fun...! I've done countless map changes to my 12S...all that...

    Timing Belt Transmission - Maintenance

As has been said, the drive belt should last at least to 25,000 miles...IF cared for. Leave the rock gards in place, try to stay on clean roads if you can. Just keep an eye on it. depending on how and where you drive will dictate how long the belt will last. As for lube...don't know. While I...

Wanted... Bar Ends that cut down on vibration & K&N??

Sack - Understand the XB are a full of vibration, I have an XB12S (and actually a 12R also). And the Harley engines thump more thAn they vibrate. Or actually a low frequency vibration. BUT...this is a 1125CR forum...! Mike

Wanted... Bar Ends that cut down on vibration & K&N??

Vibration...? When tuned correctly, these engines are "almost" as smooth as an I-4 (offshore engine)...tuned correctly..! That's why Rotax put a bunch of extra balance shafts in the engine...to make it smooth. My CR is very smooth at most all freeway cruising speeds. It gets a little...

    Clubmans For Sale

I paid $75 (plus shipping) for the same parts about a year ago. All in very good shape and bolted to my XB12S. So now...my 1125CR and XB12S have s more simillar seating position. Mike

    Muffler FOR sale

Mmmm, I paid $80.00 for an extra over two years ago. Only one small dent. $120...?? Mike

    Exhaust Wrap

I've done a few sets. It's not that big a deal. Start with a "tag" if you will, going backward and over wrap the first layer to lock the end tight. And yes, wrapping the tubes while still on the bike is no big deal on the XB Buell anyway..! Just try to push the beginning (that overwrap) up as...

    Just got a XB9S

Again...service manual, get to know it. Just like any other mechanical thing, they need maintinance to stay alive. Mike

    Best solution for corrosion?

Have reused rotor fasteners with zero problem. And will continue to do so as long as I see no deformation in the fastener. "Deformation" happens just before a fastener breaks...it stretches, get's smaller in diameter! This is part of what I do for a living. Been doing it a long time, have...

    Driven red handlebars

I think it looks....cute... You did ask..! I believe your choise was "good" or "gross". Good = 0 Gross = 1 Mike

    Fuel Maps

Just a note... Without basic tuning skills, doing what you want to do is like having someone stand blindfolded, on a large rock in the middle of a pond full of alligators...and you have only one path that'll get you to safety...and it's not a straight path..! This isn't a putdown. This is just...

    Best solution for corrosion?

Not too messy... WD-40 and Scotchbrite. It'll take a while, but you'll get it clean. Messy....Navel Jelly. Actually, this might be a better overall way to go. The Scotchbrite will not get right down into the joint of the head of the fastener and the thing it's holding onto. On the other...

    Damn previous owner!

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS........ change the oils, the filter and check the air filter, check the important nuts and bolts, the tire air pressure, the shock adjustments, the brake and shifter adjustments....the day you get a previously used bike in your own garage. No matter where it came from, no...

1125R is this mine soon Special edition ??

I'd sure hope that "grating" is just for show at the back of the pods. If it lets air out, the engine could end up runing hot. During your higher speed drives, the air that's suppose to go thru the radiator..is going out the pod vents..! Not a good thing. Have fun with it. Mike

Stater or VR, what went wrong?

The 08 deal is the stator, the rotor and the regulator. The system turns into a two segment (08) rather than a three segment (09 & 10) system. As far as what can you do...nuthin..just get lucky. My first stator went out at about 18,000+ miles. I'm on a second Buell stator, that so far is...

    lots and lots of questions

Question #1 - No, not at all. Remember that detonation can be controled by a proper chamber shape. Rotax has done this. By the use of a small volume, pent roof chamber vs. piston diameter. Rather than use giant, odd shaped chambers like the old Chevys, Fords and Chryslers (remember that the...

    Hot Cams valve shims

For what it may be worth... DO NOT use "Hot Cams" valve shims in the 1125 engines. I started to, they are very rough ground. I though...lets see if they'll polish. Well, they polished up just fine with 3000 grit sand paper (actually plastic backed). What that says is.....they are WAY too...
