    Hot Cams valve Shims

For what it may be worth... DO NOT use "Hot Cams" valve shims in the 1125 engines. I started to, they are very rough ground. I though...lets see if they'll polish. Well, they polished up just fine with 3000 grit sand paper (actually plastic backed). What that says is.....they are WAY too...

    2000-2500RPM bog

FORGET the freaken breather reroute....it does NOTHING for power. Unless your rings are so bad that the engine pumps blue smoke out the tailpipe. Geeze...what a wives-tail, myth. If the engine was running fine...then started this, you may be correct about the vacuum leak. I'd be more inclined...

    ReJetting (Bigger Injecters)1125R

Put a turbo or nitrus in the mix...THEN worry about larger injectors...! Sorry but...You need to learn "how things work"..! As uly notes...more air...then...more fuel... Power is NOT made by the amount of fuel you can put into a cylinder...it's by the amount of...air...you can cram into a...

Muffler, K&N, ECM all at once

Best to do it all at the same time. Most 1125's don't run all the well from the factory, now your gonna lean it more with the free'r flowing exhaust...I wouldn't. Mike

    1125 Headers Wrapped

RT - Unfortunatly, the white stuff doesn't last nearly as long as the newer "titanium" (as it's called) stuff lasts. Where it's protected from flying garbage and too much wind blast, it'll be fine. It's lasted a long time on my Yamaha R1. It's mostly covered by bodywork. But on the open to...

    Just another ECM question...

Hate to say this...but your question is like asking, is there a difference between apples and watermelons ? The EBR, ECM has a fixed set of maps in it. Your stock ECM can be modified as many times as you want to modify it. Well...I'd guess the EBR's ECM could be modified too...but that would...

Shell Rotella vs. HD Full Syn Oil

dmp - As noted...car oils work just fine! And there's no premium price to deal with, along with just going to my local "auto parts" store. Rather thAn having to find a shop that sells speciality oil. I've got three sport bikes that have gone over 100,000 miles (and one I bought used that went...

    Race fuel question

Won't hurt anything...but as noted, unless you raise the compression...it's a waste of money. Matter of fact, if you go all the way to 110, you'll most likely loose power..! Race fuels (higher oct.) burn slower. Do some homework on race fuels and the things that make them work...! Mike

Shell Rotella vs. HD Full Syn Oil

You didn't ask about this oil but... I've used Mobil 1, 15-50, car oil in all my bikes since 1985 with zero oil related problems. This includes my 1125CR. All due respect...but there is "many" ways to skin the proverbial cat... Mike

    New Design Look

Do I read this correctly... Raised the seat...lowered the rear suspension...!? If I read this wrong...stop here... If so...bad move suspension wise for a....."cool" seat. Mike

    1125 Headers Wrapped

Shoody....wow...pretty harsh words! It's not that bad looking. Z - you gotta do somethig about the hose clamps though....! I wrapped mine with the same stuff...but.... I started from the cylinder head down. I did the front first because it was easy to remove. I waited till I did a valve...

Replaced handlebars, should I fear the rain?

Not gonna hurt a thing..wet or dry...! Pretty obvious that as long as the wire's covered in something...it'll be fine. Wrap it in black tape if you don't like the colors showing. Or try to move it around so it's covered like the other wire in the bundle you are working with in the area. Mike

    bleeding brakes any tips

Wow...it's NOT that difficult. 1. Have fresh bottle of Dot 3 fluid on hand. 2. Have small collection bottle on hand. 3. Have 1/8" or 3/32" clear line (hose) on hand. 4. Have a "box" wrench of the proper size (bleed fitting on the caliper) on hand. 5. Place the wrench on the caliper bleed...

    1125 Ram Air

The Glendale Harley guys installed the upper fairing airbox inlet to their Bonneville XB series bike with good results also. Wonder how I could go about mounting that somewhere on my CR....!?!? Mike

    2005 Buell XB12S: A Good Deal?

I bought much the same bike (3200 miles) about a year and a half ago for $3400.00. Removed the K&N air cleaner and Jardine muffler and put the stock stuff back on. Neither of those two things are worth much...to me anyway. If I want to go fast and make noise...I get on my CR...! The best thing...

    1125 Ram Air

I have both the CR and an XB12S. I agree with your first statement on the ram air effects. It doesn't work if you open or remove the box cover...! You may pick up some "cool" noise you didn't have before but there's nothing you can do to regain the effect of the ram air...except to put the...

    Looking into an 1125 cr

zd - Heat "resistant wire"....?! No such thing. "Custom Rewind" has a more heat resistant epoxy "covering" for the wire after it's wound (rewound!). And no...the stator cover isn't difficult to remove and replace and the stator isn't difficult to remove from the cover.. Took me just over a...

    Engine Fan Operation

Having the fan on for a short period of time "after" shutdown is a good thing...! The engine actually goes thru a "hot soak" after it's turned off. It's what made gas boil on the older cars with carburetors...you know...the OLD days...! So as I say, having that big fan blow some of that heat...

    The HEAT, man--THE HEAT!!

Add a few degrees ignition timing to the low rpm map areas and use one of the many stick-on insulation blankets on the inside of the frame rails. Worked well on my 12R and 12S (and my 1125CR for that matter). Mike

    fading clutch

CR - "falling away" Please elaborate. What does falling away mean? For what it's worth, my CR has over 21,000 miles on the stock clutch assembly and is working fine. Except for the occasional fluid droppings...! Mike
