    "Beauty is Beast"

And truthly for me it is really more about what it FEELS like as it delivers its spread of power and torque ... The Speed and Street Triples have all of the attributes you suggested (never have ridden either) but have read so many reviews on them and what great sound they make to boot... But...

    "Beauty is Beast"

Quote from the Motorcycle News Article in that Long v. Speed Triple Comparison: "Buell’s 1203cc V-twin makes a great wave of torque that propels the XB12Ss forward like a surfer at Waimea Bay; liquid smooth, irresistible and intoxicating. Although the rush ebbs above 4000 rpm, in canyon riding...

    "Beauty is Beast"

Nice that you have the same bike... It is such a cool blend of technology mixed with what a lot of magazines refer to as an archaic engine - made right... If you get a chance --- MotorcycleNews.com did a nice write up on our bike - the 2006 Lightning Long (right when it came out) it did a...

will failing fuel pump trigger CEL?

So she is not starting at all now... ? Just to make sure I understand... I am new to the XB's so am not familiar with its history for the fuel pump as you noted... But if compression, and spark are there and you are not getting any fuel, it sounds like a fuel pump and/or some type of...

Oil change, 3 qts., still low

I just changed the oil in my bike and 2 and 1/2 quarts played out nicely. As others noted... let it warm up and then see where it settles... Do NOT add more oil b/c the reality is all it is capable of holding is 2 and 1/2 quarts so adding more truly will be MORE... I would RELY on the first...

    "Beauty is Beast"

Well - It has been over a month now since I bought my 2006 Buell Lightning Long. I totally see, feel and, hear (now firsthand) what all the hype is about the Buell Lightning/Firebolt line (though I am sure the earlier ones also have all of the same charm, character - and fun factor...) I have...

2 day owner of Lgntng Long Needs Help !!!!

lunaticfringe --- I have to confess, I have an SV650 and Bandit 1250S, but this bike is the one I am really anxious to ride. I was able to get a little ride in a week ago (prior to new snow falling here in Maine). I ended up doing all the things noted earlier in my string: new plugs, oil...

2 day owner of Lgntng Long Needs Help !!!!

Lunaticfringe - thanks for the notes above - I went ahead and bought a 5/8 inch swivel spark plug socket and went with a 10 inch extension and removed both plugs... I took Dave's adivce from his video and bought a spark plug wire tool to remove the boot from the socket so all set there. Now I...

Thanks for the nice welcome[up] I appreciate same very much. I am very happy with this bike and you know when you see I bike that resonates with you in that special way. The way I feel about this Lightning Long (upon seeing it for the first time) is how I felt at 14 seeing the 1981 GPz 550...

2 day owner of Lgntng Long Needs Help !!!!

Thank you ... I will try that. I took the battery out to and have it on a charger. I also am now realizing that this bike was in a warm showroom all year and was in a cold garage... the battery died while trying to start/keep her running... So I even wonder if that may be part of it... I am...
