    It's finally road worthy

After 2 months to the day I have fixed enough sh*t to make this roadworthy. I purchased this 2006 SS after I first waited an entire month before negotiating with the seller. I was hesitant on making the leap based on initial inspection, but decided screw it I'll just fix whatever it needs. I...

best Engine Mods for a Buell xb 12

That's a lot of $$$ for about 30HP, a person must really love their machine to spend that kinda money.

    What to know before buying?

Here is one that looks original, although not an R. https://lexington.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2007-buell-xb12s/6600185489.html One thought to throw out there... If you can wrench, you can buy a well used machine cheaper, and bring it up to snuff yourself. I have went this avenue after exhausting...

Getting rid of hot glue residue on the inside of a translucid airbox top

I would do the opposite, freeze the hot melt off. Get it really cold in your freezer, then whack it with a chisel. If you assume the PO used a quality hot melt, then best case scenario you have low melt kind that is at least 150F usually. At that temp the plastic will likely warp. I doubt they...

    cycle engine sounds

pretty cool video. I miss the 2-strokes a little bit, then I remember how much smoother power deliver has become. One of these days, I must ride an ol' triple H1/H2.

On the hunt for an XB: discouraged thus far

I have seen some of the quick shipping quotes on cycle trader. There seems to be a fine line between gas money/time, and paying for someone else to do it. More than a few hundred seems prohibitive to me, but maybe those quick ship tools are a bit off.

damn, that's almost a barn find story How is shipping these days? It seems private sales may be difficult for that? Do most dealers do this as a norm today?

On the hunt for an XB: discouraged thus far

I have no issue with doing the work, have rebuilt sportsters before. I just wasn't necessarily wanting to buy a project at this time. It seems as though I may reconsider the SS since it does seem to run just fine.

On the hunt for an XB: discouraged thus far

I can see my initial expectation were set too high for my budget, understood. So let me throw this out there for an opinion... A 2006 Lightning Ss, 18.5k miles, needs push rod cover gaskets, base gaskets, likely a cometic gasket kit, mystery oil spatter on bottom(possible loose oil filter?)...

On the hunt for an XB: discouraged thus far

Lunatic, I am located in central, IN. I appreciate the offer, but at that distance to travel, and asking price, its a no go for me. So it seems at the price I'm looking at, I should expect plenty of wear and tear? I'm not shopping for perfect condition, all I really care about is solid...

On the hunt for an XB: discouraged thus far

I am looking for a long frame, I would prefer the Ss, but the other models would suffice. I may even decide I like Uly/XT/TT better, who knows! My budget is $3500, mileage under 25k is ideal, but I could do up to 40k if the price is right. The budget can slide a little higher if the right...

On the hunt for an XB: discouraged thus far

Hello, New guy looking to purchase my first Buell. I am not having very good luck thus far in my search for a well kept XB. I have looked at an 06 XB12Ss model, and an 07 XB12X. Both bikes were praised as in good condition, but upon inspection both were not without fault. The Ss was riddled with...
