    Just dumped my girlfriend...

12R_FIRE... what can I say. I didn't listen to older guys back then either. Good luck with both - marriage and the Corps. I'd redo the whole 20 years at the drop of a hat if they'd let me. Saw your profile, protect that aviation contract. I started out as an 0302, then flew AV-8Bs and finished...

    Just dumped my girlfriend...

Here's my grandfatherly advice for you young 'uns (and yes, I am a grandfather). DON'T get in a serious relationship (marriage or otherwise) until you are at least 35. I know, some of you married your high school sweetheart and are still together (my in-laws were/did and are still together...

    Sad day

Sorry amigo. I lost my mom coming on four years ago so I know it's tough. If you come as far south as San Diego I can give you some cool roads to ride and will try like hell to ride a few with you.

09 XB12Ss front brakeline recall letter

Here's some scoop for those of you who thought the recall was done but your brake line is still on the inside... it may have been done correctly. See the link below to the service bulletin. There are two kits and two solutions depending the damage to your brake line noted on initial inspection...

09 XB12Ss front brakeline recall letter

Anyone have a list of parts for this recall? Sounds like it's the tape for the fork leg, the bracket that holds the line out to the side, and two reflectors? That might be good info for anyone going in to have the work done.

09 XB12Ss front brakeline recall letter

Thanks for posting those pics. I'll try and get a shot of what they did with the bracket on the lower triple clamp with mine. All gooned up. Were those reflectors by your headlight part of the kit?

09 XB12Ss front brakeline recall letter

I contacted a Buell tech that I know/trust and he confirmed the correct routing AFTER the recall should be to the outside.

09 XB12Ss front brakeline recall letter

buell 4 me - same thing here! I hadn't seen another 09 with the mod until looking at these pics. My dealer put the clear tape on the inside of the fork and left it routed to the inside - and looks like I have maybe the old and new bracket on the lower triple clamp?? The best part is that I...

    Tall Guy Windscreen Advice

Thanks all! For the record, I do wear a Shoei with ear plugs. More interested in relief from wind blast more than noise. Like I mentioned, I have a longer torso than most 6'2" folks (not freakish, mind you) but I do catch a lot of wind, and like I said, usually traveling faster than slower out...

new to buell what modifications would u do first ?

I recommend modding your odometer for about 5000 miles. While you're working on that, follow the recommendation above and do some research. After you've had some time in the saddle you'll have a better idea what you want to do with your bike. Get out and ride it!

    Tall Guy Windscreen Advice

All, I know we've discussed windscreen options before but I need some fairly specific advice/information. Looking to add a Palmer screen to my XB12Ss. I'm 6'2" with a fairly tall sitting height, bike will generally be used on short trips but I do jump on the freeway a lot (SoCal, so 85mph to...

    HD service sucks.

You can always send your oil out to a lab if you are worried about it. $25 (IIRC) but if it saves you a few quarts of synthetic by not changing so often it's not a bad price. Probably even a better price if you are trying to extend the interval too long. The amount of oil you add between oil...

What Tail Bag Are You Using On Your XB12Ss?

I use an RKA STARR II bag. Not too big but expandable to 18L. They have larger and smaller models. They are a bit pricey but made in USA. They have a pad that straps to your seat (straps go under the seat and connect with velcro). The bag then attaches to the pad with velcro straps. No bungees...

I haven't talked to those guys for a while so not sure if they have any new ones left. They don't show any on the Buell website and they don't show any on their "pre-owned" section. Here's their number: (619) 477-4477.

    2009 XB12Ss for sale, So Cal, $6000

Thanks! $5500 is as low as I'm willing to go - but I think that's a darn good deal for a nice bike.
