    XB12S chassis check after purchase.

Full suspension of the bike to overhaul the moving bits. Never trust a second-hand bike - it's amazing what some people do to a bike. Things I found: 1. Wiring harness under seat chafed at underside so that about four wires were shorting to the galvanized battery cradle. 2. O2 sensor squashed on...

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Thanks all - very happy here. No, I didn't cut the arm. Squeezed a small file into the pipe and filed the weld off of the back of the easyout enough to hammer a long reach socket onto it. Got the easyout out, filed it some more to get a decent grip of the socket on it. Re-inserted and with a...

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Full amputation of my rear achieved. So relieved. New bearings tomorrow and wait for the replacement pin bought on ebay. Many thanks to all for the shoulder to cry on. I will post some progress pics.

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Savaged pivot pin removed at last. It's a happy day and all thanks to a good friend - Andre Wyne - who took the time to bring his architect/steel expert self around and found a way.

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Thanks Squidbueliie - I was hoping that there would be some other miracle cure. I'm still going to try to drill the end of the easyout and see if I can tap a thread in it to use a bolt to remove it. Yes, it took quite a while to locate a large set of easyouts. DIRTeNtwisted, that pic is...

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Thanks Mope - it looks right. I just need to be absolutely certain that cutting is the only way. Please let me know how much you want for it in the meantime. DirteNtwisted, The guy before me made up a pin out of three pieces: The threaded end piece with taper (I think), a rod, also threaded...

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Ok, So I managed to get a set of easy-outs (Tapered left-hand threaded tool with short shaft). I welded a bolt to the rear to get the reach I needed and it did bite into the hole but sadly, the weld did not hold so now I have both the captive piece and the tool buried in the pivot hole...

12S What is this earth strap?

That makes sense now. Thanks so much. Couldn't figure why an earth strap would have such a rubbery mounting at the bottom. Thanks so much for that advice, squidbuellie.

12S What is this earth strap?

O2 sensor removed on right after ceramic coating headers. You can just see the strap ring disconnected from the threaded protrusion mid left. The strap runs down to inside the left leg where the dirty finger is in the photo, holding it from swinging down.

12S What is this earth strap?

12S What is this earth strap?

Can anybody tell me what the earth strap/bar is for which is located at the rear of the frame beneath the fan from the rear horizontal down to the left inside of the frame. I have found that mine has been left disconnected by the previous owner and it is really hard to get to. Is it critical?

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Good thinking.I don't know the sprinkler tool but the principal matches my latest plan. I now plan to buy a left hand thread tap, weld a bar onto the end to achieve the reach i need and tap a thread into the lodged piece. I will also buy a long bolt with a left hand thread and use that to turn...

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Thanks for that. Problem is that with piece of the pin left behind, the swing arm is trapped and can't be removed. I think my best bet is to use the best epoxy I can find and replace the one piece of pin into the other and hope that it sticks strong enough to allow me to screw it all out. Still...

    XB12S SWING ARM PIN

Hi I am a new Buell owner - have just bought a 2004 XB12s. Doing some stripping and checking and found fairly bad lateral movement on the swing arm. Tried to remove the swing arm and the pivot pin came out, leaving the threaded piece in the opposite side behind. Now the arm is trapped by this...
