    Wheel Bearing Number Deciphering please!?!?!?!

I'm looking into buying a set of wheel bearings for the XB and have hit a bit of a snag. The commonly recommended size seems to be and SKF 6005-2RSH for the front and a 6006-2RSH for the rear. I've found a set at Enco for a great price but the SKF number is 6005-2RSJEM and a 6006-2RSJEM for the...

    Good HID kit for xb?

I'll go ahead and second that. I bought a Race Sport kit 2-3 years ago as an experiment on my Hayabusa. They worked flawlessly the entire time they were on that bike. The ballasts were 100% reliable, the weather-proof seals on the wiring were indeed 100% weatherproof (I rode MANY times in the...

Questions from a first time Buell owner

That's the very best thing ANY rider can do; research, learn, and practice. Sounds like your bike is in good hands. [up] That really sucks with the crash though. :( It's a real sobering reminder of how vulnerable we are on bikes. I've owned and ridden bikes like the 1000RR and they are...

Questions from a first time Buell owner

Instead of worrying about mods I'd strongly suggest really putting forth an effort into learning how to ride (not just survive but really be able to handle the bike) since you state this is your first bike. After all, the only thing sadder than a neglected Buell is a crashed one. [up] As far as...

    Any guitarists here?

Yup I play, not to nearly the level that I'd like, but I play none the less. Never been in a 'band' per-say but I play every Sun. for the worship team at our Church's 'Alternative' service; Think 'power ballad' style not 'old-timey baptist hymn'. :D My gear is pretty basic and 'low-rent'...

    Honorary Harley Rider?

I watched them race at the MotoGP in Indy a few years back. They were VERY entertaining as they looked ot be a HANDFUL to ride that fast. The way they would squirm all over transitioning into turn one had me puckering from my seat! They were quite a bit more fun to watch that the actual GP guys...

    Honorary Harley Rider?

Yeah, the XR was a very cool bike but in all honesty, what did it have that a Lightning didn't (other than an extra 150lbs of bulk)? The Styling on the XR was very cool but it coming out about the same time Buell was shutdown just put a REALLY nasty taste in my mouth for it. Maybe I'm just...

    Honorary Harley Rider?

+1 except I wasn't even a thought in the 60's ;) I heard someone say it before and it just rang so true with me: "I always wanted a Sportster, but never a Harley." I have a real soft spot for the Sporty but the rest of Harley's offerings just leave me cold, ice cold. They could drop every other...

    headlight recall question

Didn't look too hard, did you? [smirk] http://americansportbike.com/newdir/Item/17619 If the reflective coating is shot, which it most likely is, you really need to deal with that before wasting any time/money on brighter bulbs.

    headlight recall question

Was there ever an official recall? Either way,I wouldn't count on getting the lights replaced free of charge. You can get a new one from Americansportbike if you got a spare $100 laying around. If you're cheap/poor you can pull the housing apart and 'glue' pieces of aluminum foil (shiny side...

    Shinko Tires

I was wrong about the Stealth, I'll admit that. I had the models confused. Are you referring to the "Pilot" series of tires or the "Road" series of tires. BIG difference there. Man I hate Michelins naming scheme. :p Notice the little "winky" smiley? It's all meant in good natured ribbing. No...

quoting myself. :D No hose on yours, sorry.

    HELP Carburetor !!

Fuel is gravity fed but the petcock itself has a vaccuum diaphram in it that only opens when vaccuum is present (bike running). This prevents the flooding that was oh-so-common on older bikes with straight mechanical petcocks. I think that is what he was referring to. A quick Google search...

    HELP Carburetor !!

Not real familiar with the Blast but I'm betting you have a vaccuum operated petcock (fuel valve). If the hose from the Carb to the petcock is broken down it can collapse which will cause the petcock to close; IE-no fuel flow. That would most certainly cause the problem you describe. Good luck. Shinko Tires

What exactly are you looking for? I COMPLETELY get the ‘wanting a cheaper option’ thing; tires can be ridiculously expensive; especially if you ride a lot. However, you seem to be all over the map and just kind of ‘stabbing in the dark’ in your choices. The Stealth is for drag racing and rag...

    Shinko Tires

Yeah, I'm a bit of a Michelin man myself (no I'm not fat and built like a stack of tires! :D Lol ). My favorite tires have all been Michelins. The "Road" series is just about as good as street tires get, IMHO.

    Shinko Tires

So you put a 190/50 on and want to complain that it doesn't run in quick anymore? ;) Seriously though, a 190/50 is a horrible size. I've never ridden one I liked. Try a 190/55 next time. Also, some suspension adjustments could probably restore a little of the lost 'roll-ability'. As a note...

    Is this a scam

; Seriously? These 2 things ALONE throw up a GIANT B.S. flag for me. NOBODY sells stuff for 25% of market value, especially when it's SO easy to look up any more, and any story they give you for listing something at a price like that is absolutely, 100%, without question utter B.S. Don't let...

    Shinko Tires

I'll lay good money that you're not cornering as hard as you think you are. ;) I've run Shinko's all the way to zero chicken strips on bikes FAR more powerful than an XB. Those seeming to have problems either A) have tires so old and dried out the rubber has petrified itself (can't keep...

    XB12 acceleration wobble

Told ya so. :D Lol. You might have inadvertently added a little 'body english' in that shift into 3rd which can cause a slight head shimmy. As long as it settles down and doesn't get worse you're on the right track with your settings. You may try backing the rebound damping off 1/8 to1/4 turn in...
