    Cooling fan issues

Did you just replace the battery? No... Was the fan running continuously prior to the cel and fuse blowing? Nope...everything was normal. I will look into the service manual for the flow chart to check the fan circuit.

    Cooling fan issues

I'll try that but still have an issue that the fan is on with the key off. I'll put a new fuse in and the fan will run about 3-4 seconds and the fuse blows. What would enable the fan to have power with ignition switch off? Engine is cold.

    Cooling fan issues

Just to clarify things...when cold and key off fan is alive. Put in a new 10 amp fuse and fan will run for 3-4 seconds then the fuse blows. Wanted to understand what would make fan active on a cold engine and then blow a fuse.

    Cooling fan issues

Yeah I know I'll need to address the rocker box leak at some point. I assume its blowing the fuse from higher amp draw due to the oil on the blades? But how does the fan remain active with the key turned off?

    Cooling fan issues

Bike has 11500 miles and yes the rear rocker is leaking a bit. Not really much oil anywhere. A slight film on blades and fan grill.

    Cooling fan issues

I was out riding my '07 XB12Ss and the check engine light came on. Headed home and checked the codes with my ECMDroid. Got a code 36. Found a blown 10amp fan fuse. Did the quick look see at the wiring and tried a new fuse. Fan comes on and runs about 3-4 seconds then the fuse blows. This is...

Just picked up an 03 XB9S

Great find! I'd leave it pretty much as it is. These bikes are hard to find unmolested.

Lunaticfringe: I forgot/did not realize that the IEV servo was fused. You hit it on the nail...the fuse was blown. When the old unit failed it must have taken the fuse with it. Luckily the bike had a spare 10 amp in the spare slot. It all works now. Many thanks! David

    Check engine light

I did do that with no success. I'm wondering if actuator is bad or perhaps I'm not getting anything to the actuator.

    Check engine light

Update: Installed new exhaust valve actuator (S1138.1AA) checked for free movement of cable and lubed pivot, set free play. Cleared codes. Performed a manual exhaust valve cycle with ECMDroid...no luck. Did it with the throttle and ignition switch method...no exhaust actuator function. Started...

    '97 Buell top end

Anyone know if the top end (Pistons, heads and cylinders) from a 1997 Buell will fit a 2000 Sportster 883?

    Check engine light

Just removed the cable from the servo unit. It feels pretty free and smooth. Pulled the cable out fully and the tension remained consistent throughout the cable travel. It fully returned to its seated position. Probably would not hurt to lube the pivot point of the valve while I'm doing all of...

    Check engine light

Sure I understand your point. However I really like and enjoy the stock sound level. At 62 years I'm kind of done with the loud bike thing. Not sure if there is even any aftermarket exhaust that would meet my needs.

    Check engine light

OK, pulled air box cover off to take a look at exhaust servo unit. Cable moves freely. Tried to rotate pulley and it felt very stiff. It had a very noticeable sticking right at the beginning of movement. Also it remains in whatever position I leave it in. I assume it should move freely and...

    Check engine light

OK, I see a code 21 relates to the exhaust/muffler valve. My bike is stock all the way down to the muffler. I will check the servo drive unit on the air filter cover and also check to see if the cables move freely. I'm guessing a defective servo drive unit? Thanks!

    Check engine light

My check engine light came on today on my '07 XB12Ss. Hooked up my ECMDroid and got a code 21-AMC Stuck/AMC shorted. What is this?

    DEKA ETX14 question

Thanks guys! Looking at a picture again I see it...makes sense now.

    DEKA ETX14 question

I'm just about ready to purchase a new DEKA ETX14 for my XB12Ss. Been looking at pictures of the battery and was wondering what the heck all that red area is on the positive post side? I see what looks like a couple of half circle brass rings. Thanks...
