    Motor won't shut down

Thanks Cooter, heard from the garage doing the warranty work, they'd had the bike a week and hadn't even started on it (I am not happy!!). They're pretty confident a rear stud has snapped, they've seen my (agricultural) weld on the front of the header and have agreed to replace it but say they...

    Motor won't shut down

Working through the wiring diagram i suspect the Ignition Relay (which provides the "switched ignition" feed to the ECM via a gray wire) may be jammed on, certainly that's the first place I'll look.. Unless I am reading it wrong, that's the relay that closes when the ignition switch is on and...

    Motor won't shut down

Oh no, this was the motor alright, it even revs up when you twist the throttle, 100% no confusing that :-)

    Motor won't shut down

Riding home from work the other day and my rear header started to leak at the head, I am sure it is to do with the previous "header snapped" issue. I had the bike booked to go back under the warranty as I' was pretty sure one of the studs has snapped but as I'd welded the pipe up front I figured...

    Awwww... nuts. Header snapped..

I'll miss it a little LOL, but fortunately I'm off to Malta and I just happen to have my Triumph Trophy safe in the lock-up there, so I'll still get to ride, with the beautiful Mediterranean backdrop. Might even pop over to Sicily while I'm there :-) In the meantime the guys will fix the...

    Awwww... nuts. Header snapped..

LOL - "fine for now"... Well it seems BambamXB12r was right on the money. It started blowing on my ride home from work, I assumed it was from the weld, but it's coming from the rear cylinder area so presumably the stud has let go... Ah well, the warranty is still in force so it's being shipped...

New Cooling Fan...and still no workie?!?!?!

I can recommend a Buelltooth and ECMDroid, you can check the operation of the fan which would prove the wiring without having the hassle of removing a load of stuff again...

    Awwww... nuts. Header snapped..

Well another couple of hundred miles under my belt and I already love this bike... It is precisely that feeling (or lack of) that made me trade my Beemer in, and I was right. Decided to tidy up the welds a little: Still not perfect by any stretch but TBH it'll be fine for now:

    Awwww... nuts. Header snapped..

Ah, nuts, I bet that's it... and of course it's the rear cylinder header, so obviously a complete PITA. Given how much I could move the pipe when it was snapped I expect you're right..

    Help me enjoy my XB12X

It's so easy to change the maps it may be worth a little experimentation (carefully). Buelltooth and ECMDroid will be a very low cost option for this (around $50) and there are a few maps to pick from on the site (just be careful to pick the one most appropriate and to back your current map up)...

    Awwww... nuts. Header snapped..

First thing I checked was the front strap and that's fine, and old/corroded looking enough to make me think it's not this that caused the problem. I've another 300 miles on the bike now, so 700 in total since the fix, and today I ground the weld down enough to blend it in and then painted the...

    Awwww... nuts. Header snapped..

Yes I know it's a bit agricultural, but I did this as a temporary bodge to make sure I could attend the charity ride. It's held up for 400 miles so far and I'm sure it'll keep going..

Ulyssess saddle bag bracket fit on xb12r

Those side rails (the same ones I bought) don't work with the Buell Hepco Becker cases, they're designed for Givi/Kappa cases. I also had to modify a couple of brackets to get them to fit to the XT with the OEM top case rack.

    Awwww... nuts. Header snapped..

Well that's a little disappointing. On my way in to work today the header appears to have snapped at the weld. I've only ridden a total or 110 miles on the bike, what a damn shame. it's under warranty but the shop I bought it from is a "generic" bike shop so I am not 100% certain whether...

XT just arrived - first (minor) problem (Gas Cap)

Being honest - Vanity. I'm in a Motorcycle Club and our club colours are Red & Black, the bike is black so I am injecting a little red into the mix to make it more appropriate.. Silly I know..

    New luggage fitted :-)

I agree that the Topbox is overkill.. I think I will use one of the side cases as a topbox most days and just fit the big one when I need to carry more.

Sorry to keep posting so much... Next question (Luggage)

They're not in as good condition as I'd thought :-( I never bothered checking when they arrived with the bike but one is scuffed.

    New luggage fitted :-)

It took a little longer than anticipated as it seemed the side rails didn't want to fit with the OEM rack... but it does now :-) It looks enormous!

    First ride

    Yep, indeed a 2008 XB12XT :-)

Sorry to keep posting so much... Next question (Luggage)

Cool - thanks, I will be happy with £150 ($220) plus shipping so I can now give her an estimate (if she asks) and be confident about it :-)
