    Running Track Bike without Fan

Removed my fan long ago. No issues so far.

    Engine build

Bringing back the Dead: for the life of me, I can't find the parts where mike talks about his clutch set-up. If I remember it's Sportster based with a few pieces left out or changed. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not going to set any records at 72 years old but I'm going back out there after a year of heart-related issues. I feel good now and have lost 18 lbs. Ten more to go and I can fit in my leathers with a back protector on.

    Race Buell Improvement Thread

Fine for the street. Track is not so good. The reason is that if you're not aggressive on the brakes you are braking early. Might get assed packed. I like to brake hard enough that the rear wanders just a tad, always straight up. Off the brake , crack the throttle to unload the suspension...

Got it. Don't panic squeeze leaned over. It stands the bike up in an instant.

Fronts so stiff you are leaving 1.5" on the table. Seems wrong.

I also don't get along with Dunlops. Completely different set-up as compared to Pirelli or Bridgestones. Sidewalls to stiff, no feedback. Hell of an experiment. I would punt unless you have lots of spares.

looking for updated drive belt info XB12R

I run the belt fairly loose, so loose in fact if you get on it in the fat part of the power band it skips. I run a gear hi because there's less to think about tryin' to go quick. Using the tensioner with a spring.

    'Full Floater' rotor setup

I can see Buell running circles around an XR1200. I've seen a few wadded up with hotdogs at the controls. No ground clearance.

    'Full Floater' rotor setup

^^and if you make a steering stem to fit make 2. I would also like one. The worst thing about the Buell front end is the urge to stand the bike up under braking when leaned over. There are ERB rotors out there both used and new but the folks selling them think they're worth more than gold. The...

    'Full Floater' rotor setup

I wouldn't worry about an overheated rotor unless you traveling at 'pro-level speeds. Those fellas went through lots of them. Unless you're going to a chain drive set-up top speed is limited. Hard to kill a rotor with a top speed of 135 unless abused.

Former Race Buells hiding under tarps?

A rotor hone and acetone work wonders. Check runout before replacing.
