    kick stand question

Yup. I have an 07 and had this problem (the actual bolts loosening up) over and over til I did what Cooter said to do - fully remove, clean, and absolutely LOCTITE THEM! Hasn't happened again in almost 3 years. Loctite FTW!!

    New Bueller from Washington

Welcome! I also have am XB9 and I'm just over in Seattle if you want any hands on help/advice/etc. I've done a fair chunk of fixing/modding (of course with the help on this site!). I also have ECMspy if you need computer diagnosing and such. Don't be shy, feel free to get a hold of me via PM or...

weird detent type feel between 3rd and 2nd (downshift only)

I accidentally did this correctly. I'm rocking a 1/4 turn out on the adjusting screw from when it bottomed (spec is 1/4-1/2 turn out). Cable adjustment followed after that. Also accidentally have Mobil 1 in there as well, proper levels, checked many times. Still have yet to check primary chain -...

weird detent type feel between 3rd and 2nd (downshift only)

Hmmm, clutch cable is newer was recently re-adjusted to spec. I have not checked the primary in over a year though. Will look into that.

weird detent type feel between 3rd and 2nd (downshift only)

So you know when you downshift from 2nd to 1st and as you bypass neutral you can feel that little notch/detent type thing - well I get the same thing downshifting from 3rd to 2nd. What's up with that?? Fluid levels are perfect, shift linkage is perfect (adjusted to my height and preference years...

    Xb12x cross country

Man, some great shots from Utah/Colorado!! Enjoy your time, hit some sweet CO mountain roads and savor it cuz once you hit Denver it'll get a lot more boring (straight roads, less elevation changes). You should prob try to do Pikes Peak. You'll prob be stuck going 20 mph but still...

Replacement bolts for fork lower triple clamp?

Hmmm, McMaster has it but only sells in packs of 25 - way more than I need (4). Couldn't find anything or Grainger nor Twin's site. Got a link for Twin moto's site? I searched and searched.

Replacement bolts for fork lower triple clamp?

So, did my research - gotta be grade 8, can't use stainless due to the torque involved and 'cold fusion' of the bolt with the clamp. St Paul HD only appears to stock the lower pinch bolt (the ones that hold the front wheel on). Got some black oxide ones that meet the grade 8 minimum...

Crankcase breather mod - What did I do wrong??

According to other posts about this, the crankcase or whatever utilizes a one way reed valve in the PCV valves that negates the need for a check valve. See 8th post https://www.buellxb.com/forum/showthread.php?10259-Crank-case-breather-alternative!!!-The-new-and-improved-Krankvent!!

New fork seals leaking a little - install fail ??

I feel like I really connected with your Balls today. Thanks Coots, we really went up one level in our relationship. Really feeling a spiritual connection now. Well, just popped off one dust seal and - OH BOY. While officially it's only for dust, it sure did hold in plenty of oil. I'd guess...

New fork seals leaking a little - install fail ??

Hmm. Plastic bag trick? Have not heard of this. You mean the initial putting of the seal on tube? Uh oh. I used the AllBalls as many have and I didn't hear complaints while researching. I'm guessing 'spray aerosol cleaner' as in brake cleaner? Or some similar non-resudue leaving schmoo?

New fork seals leaking a little - install fail ??

Oh dear god. So I actually did these twice. The process is really quite straight forward. The first time apparently got some white plastic 'dust' between the fork legs and seal from the plumbing piece you use to set the seal (per ALL videos/DIYs). Didn't clean it up enough after cutting. Fair...

Contaminated brake pads - are they done??

Well, they seems fine now. We got fresh fork seals/wipers/oil (finally), rehabbed brake pads & rotor, new turn signals, and a new horn. Took it out for about half hour today and it's running great. I laid it on an abandoned mattress to 'bed' the pads in. Duh. Brakes seem fine with no obvious ill...

Contaminated brake pads - are they done??

That's pretty much exactly what I've done in the past. Never was sure if it helped or not (the older brake pads at least). When you say I'll immediately know - what about accounting for the bed in process as they're basically 'new' at that point?

Contaminated brake pads - are they done??

So my fork seals went out (fork currently on operating table) and leaked enough oil to somewhat contaminate the pads / rotor. I know I can clean the sh** out of the rotor with brake cleaner and steel wool/3M pad as well as the pads - maybe do some sanding as well. I'm worried that the...

Oh yeah, those are the best - Knipex FTW!!

Crankcase breather mod - What did I do wrong??

I can't believe how I overlooked the simplest part of the original set up: if you have some incoming flow and you cap the end, it will take the path of least resistance AKA the air filter. Like blowing through a straw (I know it's not that strong), blocking the end, and poking a hole on the side...

Crankcase breather mod - What did I do wrong??

Sounds like I'm either gonna relocate the filter a little further away per Barrett or just delete it. I went with this set up cuz it was relatively simple (no ridiculous CNC, brackets, or similar silliness) and I wanted it to discharge towards the back, no front dangling. That being said, I have...

Crankcase breather mod - What did I do wrong??

Well, while I was reading up about various versions of this, I read somewhere about vacuum or something potentially being an issue. As long as you let air in, oil goo will move along. Initially I just wanted a much more basic set up but xxx and his buddy xxx swore you needed a filter. I def...
