    Intermittent rectifier / charging issue

Thanks for all the info. Kind of thought the VR waa at fault and just wanted a few others to agree before buying a new one. Kinda happy to replace it as it's easier than the stator!

    Intermittent rectifier / charging issue

Thanks for these tips. Have checked the plugs (No.77 I think its called and they're fine). Will check the mount between frame and subframe next time I'm messing about with it! Also, thanks for the tip with the rectifier, will try some cooling spray on it to see if that makes any difference, and...

    Intermittent rectifier / charging issue

2009 XB12R Battery was bought in Septemeber 2020, bike has regular use and I'm in Hong Kong so never gets cold. I keep getting the "Low battery error" so I did the voltmeter mod. Checked the voltmeter against my multimeter for accuracy and it's all good. When riding the bike is between 12 -...

    Excessive vibration on deceleration.

Thanks for the input. I checked the wheel bearings and spacer, had a spare set of bearings so changed them. All fine. On the way home from work the vibrations got a lot worse. turns out it was the front engine mount. I was looking for a collapsed mount with it hitting the bolt, turns out the...

    Excessive vibration on deceleration.

Hi there, I'd be grateful if any of you guys could share your thoughts on a recent issue. XB12R 2009. Last weekend I changed the primary oil and checked the primary chain tension, had the rear fairing off to change the indicators, and undid the rear axel and torqued to spec as I recently had...

Draining fuel tank to weld frame

Thanks for your info, I've found a guy that says welding is an option as it not on a main weld, etc but still weighing up my options. I'm away on holiday for the next 7 weeks (tough life, I know) so hence the slow replies, but will try to post some pics soon.

Draining fuel tank to weld frame

Not sure, just noticed it. It's not on the major welds. On the top of the frame where the tank and seat meet. Not been in any accidents that I know of, which covers the last 4 years or so.

Draining fuel tank to weld frame

Thanks for all the input. I'm in Hong Kong so getting a frame here is going to be costly. For anyone that's replaced their frame, how much of a pain was it and can it be done without a hoist? I doubt very much I'll be able to find someone to do it for me here, so I'd be doing it myself. I'd say...

Draining fuel tank to weld frame

Hey guys, So I have a crack in my frame, I've found a guy that can weld it but how do you drain it and make it safe to weld? I'd really appreciate info from those that have done it before. I've been told to drain it, leave it in the sun and give it a blast with compressed air but is this really...

I saw this youtube vid. Anyone know if this will work on my 05 xb9sx, or should I just quit messing about and buy the tool? Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQnlt8twX3k

XB9 runs like **** when hot

Just had a look at the manual and can't see how to do this. Are they at the throttle body? What do I do, spray brake cleaner when the engine is running and monitor the idle - this is how people suggest doing it on Bandits with carbs. Thanks!

XB9 runs like **** when hot

Cheers for all the info and advice. I'll start checking all those things, it got much worse on the way home, actually running on one cylinder while riding with higher revs and loads of backfiring so maybe plugs are fouling? I'll change em. As for the intake seals, prob are the origonal as the...

XB9 runs like **** when hot

So I looked on the Buelltooth site and they have the following maps for the XB9: Buell Race Kit D&D Buelltooth Exhaust System (Specify Model Purchased) I have the jardine exhaust on mine, anyone fancy taking a stab in the dark at which map would be the closest one? Cheers

XB9 runs like **** when hot

Thanks for the info guys. Will have a look at the Buelltooth and change the plugs. Also, the exhaust is pretty banged up so I bet it does have some air leaks. The popping on decel doesn't bother me (I quite like it) but the running on 1 cylinder is a pain in the ass. Cheers

XB9 runs like **** when hot

Hi guys, back with another problem... I'm being a bit lazy and asking for help rather than properly trying to diagnose the problem myself due to a split disc in my back which means I can only work on the bike for limited time. Anyway, enough of my bs sob story... The bike runs fine when cold...

    Bit of a wobble

Looks like it was the front engine mount / isolator. It was looking a bit perished and when I fiddled with it a bit some of the rubber came away which meant I got vibrations on decel. Changed the part and the bike feels great now, no wobble and feels better in the corners too. Thanks for all...

    Fu@#ing death wobble

Sorry to sound dumb, you made it so there was more or less fork sticking out the top yolk? Thanks

    Bit of a wobble

Thanks for the info and advice. Been a bit busy, but last week I noticed the weights for the front wheel were on the left, the manual says they need to be on the disc side so I moved them, checked the steering head bearing torque (did it to the top of the torque range setting) and put a bar on...
