Can't remove front brake Thunderbolt S3

Pads out it should go. I have heard about people notching the calipers barely to make it easier as well. Sure beats unbolting the rotor, the pads slip right out after removing the pin. Don't forget to lube the pin with disc brake lube when re installing.

    2001 X1 Lightning?

Keep your eye out. There are often good deals on tube framed buells. If you have to carry much the S3T is basically the same bike as the x1, but with a different subframe making passengers and saddle bags work wonderfully. The only problem is they don't look nearly as badass as a x1. If your...

What's the age of the typical Buell owner?

27 riding street for 8 years. Started on a honda vt500c, wished it was an ascot. My dad was always a harley guy (I talked him into a xb12xt when buell went under). I have owned a cb750 but didn't like the power band. Got a dyna super glide, didn't like dragging pegs on it. Then a roadster...

S1W to XB rebuild and conversion

Nice project. If you decide to sell parts sportster guys love tuber forks, they are almost bolt on. I would like to do a swap like this on my thunderbolt some day.

    Buell tubers mileage

I get about 45 with bags on my s3t and about 50 without. This is with the deep bags, I wish I had narrows too. Aside from bmw thumpers its hard to beat the mileage and keep loaded intersate power. Very happy bueller here.

Whats the longest ride anyones made?

My wife and I did 940 miles to vegas the year after we got married. Me on a dirt tracker style evo sportster her on a 750 magna. Ride home three days later in one shot was 200 miles longer than we should have been on the bikes. Now on my s3t with better egros and longer range and her not...

    My engine just blew!!

Hope its not your crank, the cases in my 02 are pressed together, and although the crank is only about 700 labor quote was 1800. I bought a parts bike and made my money back. Good luck!

snapped belt. how many others have done this?

On my bike (s3) it would be easier. You don't have to mess with the isolators. Cut belt (if it hadn't snapped) install sprockets and chain. But on an x1 or xb? [confused]

    WTB Service Manual S3

I am looking to buy in any condition a S3 service manual. Need one for the fuel injected bikes, and I am not sure if there are many other differences in the 99-02 models. Mine is a 99, but an early 2000's should work well enough

    Speed sensor

Unless you have an older cable drive bike. Keep working it, be sure to oil it before you put it back in too.

snapped belt. how many others have done this?

My dad had a belt break on one of his hd's, about 78k on it though, and had caught a rock. I had 30k on my sporty belt when I sold it. No belt guards on it. That said my dad also has over 30k on a stock uly belt. I know added suspension travel on the bells is an added stress but a bit of it...

snapped belt. how many others have done this?

Do the belt guards play a role in protecting the bike from potential damage when the belt does break? Do belts ever do much damage anyway?

883r sportster with buell bits for trade (for a buell)

Bike eventually sold for what it was worth and I picked up a decent S3t for under 3k and had plenty to pay off some debts. If I find the time to ride more I may be around these parts more often.

Let's see some customized tuber pics

Aaronbuell got it right, 99 x1, s3 were fi, m2 wasn't. I believe all three were thunderstorm heads.

wtb rear muffler and front rotor

Looking for the rear muffler mount for a tuber (99 s3 if it matters), mine brooke and I drug my muffler a little ways... I may just have a machinist make me a new beefier one. Also looking for a front brake rotor, preferably a 2000 or later. Thanks for looking

883r sportster with buell bits for trade (for a buell)

I am advertising elsewhere. I wish XL forum had a better classifieds section, it would be a lot easier to sell this bike in a sportster forum. I have been a member there for a while, and there are a lot of people who bounce back and forth from buells (which are quite popular there) and...

883r sportster with buell bits for trade (for a buell)

You you guys must be pretty self conscious, cant even take a joke. I think buells are amazing looking bikes, prefer them over italian and jap sport bikes, looks included. However the consensus in the motorcycle world is buells are kinda funny looking... Obviously I disagree. (And was talking my...
