    oil

Weather warmed up so I've put a couple hundred miles on since putting the Dextron 3 in the trans/primary. Result: shifting seems smoother & I don't get that initial clutch jerk from cold, but there's still the grinding crunch on the first cold initial engagement of 1st.After that it's fine. Had...

    oil

I put it in about a month ago & so far so good, the clutch seems better too, but as it's now turned really cold I haven't been able to put in much riding.

    oil

Even though it may be recommended I don't like the idea of engine oil in the transmission. Think I'm going to try Dextron 3 automatic trans fluid.

    rear tires

Seems there are more choices of 120/90 rear tires than 120/80. Has anyone tried any different sizes? Any clearance issues?

    oil

Thinking of changing my tranny oil. I cannot find anything in the owners manual that states what oil to put in there. The Sportsters used Sporttrans as it was important to use the correct oil because of the clutch material. Sporttrans doesn't seem to be available any more so what should I use?

    Spring primary tensioner?

Look at ghostrider's comments;the parts are pretty cheap but the difficulty is to find a Harley dealer willing to order them. You could try [Buellparts.net] but they don't have everything.I've found most dealers are reluctant or just say no to Buell. Try Pinwall Cycle Parts in Ohio...

    Forks for all years

Found a nice seal kit on ebay from 'all balls racing' for $25 which has a better dust seal than stock. So far so good

    Forks for all years

Seems leaky fork seals are a continuing problem. Does anyone know a good source for some 'leakproof' seals for the Blast?

    2000 Blast Stuck in Neutral

I just had this similar issue with an 05. Would only engage 1st & neutral. Hoping it would be an easy fix I removed the primary cover & checked the shift pawl adjustment. Jack the rear wheel off the ground & rock it back & forth to go thru the gears. I replaced the pawl & detent plate ($53)but...

    cam timing marks

Does anyone have a picture of the correct stock cam timing marks for a Blast? The intake cam has several!

    oil

GAXB9R is playing with fire using veggy oil. Once you're on that there's no changing to anything else. Back in the day the racers used to use Castrol R Veggy oil which smelt great but gummed up the engines something terrible. & the carbon build up was like concrete.

    Buell Blast Transmission Problems

For all the doubting Thomas's out there here's proof it can be done. What y'all failed to tell me is that the swing arm pivot bolt screws into the left case unlike a Sportster which screws into the frame, which is why the cases wouldn't part even after I'd removed the timing cover & gears. The...

    Buell Blast Transmission Problems

I am trying to remove the left half crankcase & leave the right side in the frame. I have the top end off & all the primary drive & I've got the 2 socket head bolts out that hold the rear mtr mount to the left case. I've split many Sportster cases before but of course with them you can get the...

    Buell Blast Transmission Problems

As I said I've got the entire primary drive off, done this a million times on Sportsters, what I need to know is do I have to remove the pinion shaft nut & gear to get the left crankcase separated from the right? I'm thinking you do as the left main bearings are timken & pressed on & the right...

    Buell Blast Transmission Problems

OK so I'm trying to split the cases on my Blast to get to the shift forks & drum. A prior contributor said the left case can be removed without pulling the motor. So I've got everything off the primary drive, the top end (obviously) & taken out the 2 socket heads that hold the rear mtr mount to...

    oil

I run valvoline 20/50 full synthetic. Here in AZ where it gets fxxxxxx hot the handbook actually says 50 or 60 wt over 85F ambient temps.

    Belts & fork oil

Yes, a closer look (wearing my reading glasses this time) does indeed show a front pulley only 3/4in wide. But if a Sportster pulley fits the output shaft then a wider belt should be possible. More research reqd. Doubt drivetrain loss would be much with 1 1/8in belt (just 3/8in bigger).

    Belts & fork oil

My research shows that hd uses 139T belts in 1 1/8 & 1 1/2. Has anyone tried using these? Surely they'd last forever as they are for big twin oem fitment.
