How does a Harley xr1200 compare to lightning long?

XR1200 actually uses the same crank as the 08+ XB12, same cam grind, same top end. So engine wise they are essentially the same components. But the XR is still a sportster based chassis. So obviously it's not as nimble as the Buell.

    C16 race fuel?

If you really want to help your engine, optimize the squish. I found out when I rebuilt my top end that the squish was like .045-.050" on a stock engine. An excessive squish is asking for knocking and preignition. Get that down to .030" and you can run up to 11:1 compression on 91 pump. That's...

    C16 race fuel?

Octane has nothing to do with engine output. It's only use is to resist preignition and knocking on high compression, high boost applications. On a stock naturally aspirated engine you'll reach MBT when tuning ignition far before you'll need high octane fuel.

another thing...if you have your tune dialed in, your adaptive fuel doesn't mess with things, it actually does what its meant to do. The problem is, for example, the closed loop might be tuned rich so when it makes corrections it pulls fuel out of your open loop, right where you want to keep the...

Yeah...you want those afrs at like 13.0-13.4 for max power in the WOT range, and of course a smooth transition from the closed loop region at 14.7:1 AFR. For such a mild build I'm surprised you actually maxed out to be honest. If you look at my earlier post. There is a link to injectors that are...

    Post Tuning Settings

You're thinking about it too much...unless you tune the front cylinder separately, the +3 method works fine. Also...there really is no need to run a richer closed loop. Hell, I run mine between 14.7-15:3:1 on my bike. No pinging here...110+℉ in Vegas. 45mpg average. I tune with a wideband and...

My 2006 XB9SX stock Map vs Race Map

Tuning is all about volumetric efficiency and finding maximum brake torque (mbt). You make power by optimizing timing advance throughout the rpm range. Finding mbt can simply be stated as the point at which your engine makes the most power and any further timing advance results in little or no...

XB pressurizing the oil tank, help

It's basically acting as of you overfilled the oil tank. It's not venting into the cam chest therefore not able to relieve pressure through the pcv system.

Do I need to change my ECM mapping?

Hook it up to ecmspy/tunerpro and look at the mapping. As for ceramic coating headers...that's not really going to affect exhaust flow. It may affect exhaust gas temps, but probably not enough to require a remap. I mean let's be honest ideally, any time you change exhaust, intake, engine you...

Also...I was looking some where that you can use an fpr from a mid 90's dodge caravan. I think it's specified pressure is 400kpa which is about 58psi which will give you about a 32 lb/hr. So slightly more fuel flow rate.

    Time For A New Fan??

haha...but they are two speed. hi/lo there is a set of parameters in the ecm that tells it when to come on, shut off, hi/lo speed. they do go out...the bearings just get old.

Bigger Injectors the main difference is the spray angle. The buell injectors are front/rear cylinder specific as the spray angle is directed straight down the intake runners of the TB. These bigger injectors are straight spray, but they will work. I think Eric Z runs them on his turbo buell. You...
