    gf wants a bike

i know this thread has been silent for a while but i'm still going to chime in. I bought a blast to learn on because it was comfortable and easy to handle with no prior bike experience (im 5'7", athletic build). I had the idea that i'd want to upgrade "in a year or two"...well for me that...

Price check on 02 Blast stock exhaust and front brake lever

Title says it all...did the search and came up empty handed. Found price for 03+ brake levers and aftermarket exhausts but nothing for 02 lever and stock exhaust.

    wanted factory exhaust

Emailed and emailed. FYI I live in Baltimore, MD, so if you guys are within 100 miles of here there's always the option of meeting up halfway, doing the swap, then parting ways. That actually sounds like a damn fine outing if the roads are twisties [cool]

    help i got a rattle

Blasts rattle quite a bit at idle. On mine and a couple I've ridden, when standing still the bike shakes enough to make every part that can rattle do just that. Check the footpegs and anything with a pivot point before looking into more serious issues.

so, tgersx, I take it you're no longer interested in a stock exhaust...

    wanted factory exhaust

BTW Mine is stock 02 Buell Blast with about 1300 miles of use. It's currently on my bike right now.

    wanted factory exhaust

I've got one. What kind of exhaust do you have? If it's the standard Vance and Hines I might be willing to negotiate a trade.

:( new problem.... i think my buell hates me..... BRAKES!!!!!

Glad you could solve your problem. Seems like you're just another owner of an '02 Blast with troubles though [smirk] Hopefully this will be the last of your woes...I'm still trying to figure out a problem with my fuel supply.

Running out of fuel far too early

OK, so my bike sputtered out of fuel at 75.5 miles while riding on Saturday, at which point I switched to reserve and it perked back up and kept going. So the problem wasn't a tank of bad gas, but I still don't know what it is. What do you all suggest I look at? Remove the tank and look...

Downed for the first time last night

honestly i'm kind of glad it happened the way it did...without oncoming traffic and at low speed. i never had a dirtbike as a kid (quads and for a short period of time an extremely flippable 3 wheeler) so i really haven't laid down any vehicle before. how exactly do you figure out the limit to...

Running out of fuel far too early

I'm at 55 miles on regular tank still. We'll see how far I get...unfortunately I don't think I'll be riding all that much this week. Today it's 27 degrees out and my ride to work was frigid.

Downed for the first time last night

It's JHU trying to beautify the area without thinking about the utility of their changes at all. Luckily the street is very wide on that turn (it's narrow everywhere else), so there's some sliding room. I must say, downing the bike, albeit at a slow speed, wasn't scary. It was more like "well...

What's the age of the typical Buell owner?

23 here. I got my license the weekend of my 23rd birthday this September and bought an '02 Buell Blast in October to learn on. In the spring I will be swapping the Blast with my father for his '00 Kawasaki 1100zrx. I've test ridden an '08 1125R, lots of fun but I don't find that sort of...

Downed for the first time last night

Last night I was riding my Blast on the last mile of a 15 mile round trip in the rain. This was my first time on a legit ride in the rain, and was consciously cautious. I was on San Martin Dr in Baltimore, MD: a really curvy, low traffic road that snakes around Johns Hopkins University...

Running out of fuel far too early

I've only had the bike for just over a month and a half. i rode for over 300 miles on the first 2 full tanks of gas. it passed inspection at the end of october, and furthermore it has been running fine since i filled up again. i still dont know why it behaved like i was out of regular fuel...

Running out of fuel far too early

@skellybuell: I filled up until there was a level of gas over the bump in the tank (usually i just fill level with it). It took just over 1 gallon to do this, which means there should have been around 1.8 gallons of fuel already in the tank (total fuel capacity 2.8gal). Once I fueled up, i was...

Running out of fuel far too early

I ride an 02 Blast. There's a petcock (a valve you turn like a key) just below the left side of the tank. It has 2 positions: "ON" for normal tank, "OFF" for maintenance and watching your friends stall your bike, and "RES" for reserve. Blast have no fuel gauge; you either learn your mileage...

Running out of fuel far too early

I just started riding and get the bike early october so i havent had enough time to really say what mileage i usually get. I know i got more than 170 miles on a full tank the first time i filled it all the way. Bad gas is a possibility. When gas prices rocketed i found a few stations around...

Running out of fuel far too early

Hey all, Today my bike sputtered and died while on standard fuel, as if it had run out of gas, but I've only ridden 83 miles since I last topped off the tank. I switched to reserve, she started just fine, and I was off and riding again, no problems. Anyone know why I would "run out" of...
