    Running Track Bike without Fan

Cheers Cooter, pretty much what I was thinking. Weight was not really the focus.......my weight is though. I trimmed 12kg out by not using the charging system, starter and battery. Where I hope to get gains is less rotating mass so easier to spin up. It's a fun bike so enjoying the tinkering.

    Running Track Bike without Fan

Hey Folks, I'm in the process of re assembling my XB12 track bike that I got as a bit of a wreck a couple of years ago. I have removed all of the bits not needed for a race bike like charging system, starter (will use pit rollers), lights and extraneous road gear. I need to make a decision about...

    XB Steering Head Bearings

Hey Everyone, down here in NZ, some Buell bits are getting a bit hard to get or wickedly expensive. Genuine replacement steering head bearings are eyewatering. I did some Googling and came up with these for my XB12r and Ulyssess. They are actually a common trailer bearing and come with a rubber...

    Aircraft Style Fuel Cap

Hey Everyone, I'm putting my cheap as chips XB12 track bike together. The fuel cap was pretty worn out so made an adaptor ring to fit this inexpensive aircraft style non keyed gas cap in. The Buell cap is a 5 screw pattern and the aftermarket cap is 6. It all fits really well and works for all XB's.

Crankshaft Inner and Outer Bearing Races

Hey Cooter, I ordered in another inner and outer and they were the same so fitted the inner on the crank and ground it to size insitu. The outer race measured 1.564" fitted so had to take inner down to 1.248" and fitted a "green" roller to get half a thou running clearance. Bit of a mission but...

Crankshaft Inner and Outer Bearing Races

Thanks for that. The inner race pressed on fine....firm but not excessive. I didn't measure the race before installation so unable to determine if it expanded during fitting. Eight thou is a lot to expand though and would definitely have felt that. I will start again and get some another set of...

Crankshaft Inner and Outer Bearing Races

Hey Everyone, I started assembling my XB12r crankshaft and cases today. I have replaced both the pinion side inner and outer bearing races and tried using the HD bearing chart to select the correct needle roller grade to achieve the right running clearance. Problem is, the inner race OD should...

    03 XB12r L/H Crank Braring Assy

Local HD dealer did some checking for me. The inner race I require is no longer available but Screaming Eagle have stepped in and produced what they call "The Lefty Kit' which is the main crank roller bearing and hardened inner race which presses onto the crank. it is marketed as a direct...

    03 XB12r L/H Crank Braring Assy

Thanks but item #1 is the spacer that packs the sprocket out. The race I need sits inside this towards the crank and forms the inner race of the roller bearing.

    03 XB12r L/H Crank Braring Assy

Hey Everyone, I'm reassembling my XB12r and have installed the large roller crankshaft bearing that goes into the L/H side case. I now realise, I don't have a replacement inner race that fits onto the crank and runs inside this large roller bearing. i have checked a number of parts books but...

Filling in headlight recess on race fairing

Hey everyone, Im putting together a xb12r track bike and want to fill in the fairing headlight recesses. Whats the best method for this and what materials will happily stick to plastic. Cheers, Stu

    Buell XB12 Conrods

Hi Everyone, still mucking about looking at ways to rebuild XB cranks without buying the whole assembly. I dont want to take mine apart till I know I have some rebuild options. To that end, can someone inform me if XB conrods have the Sporty style race inserts or does the big end bearing roller...

    Buell XB Crank rebuild

I would have thought the same but you cant get rods and crankpin separately. All Buells up to XB,s could be repaired using Sporter parts but xb's are different. If I could get a rod and crankpin kit, I can press up but no kit exists at this stage.

    Buell XB Crank rebuild

Hey folks, I have purchased a ratty XB12r that Im building into a BEARS track day bike. It hasn't had a kind life and bottom end and gearbox bearings showed signs of wear which has me suspicious of the crank and rod condition. Is anyone doing a XB12 rod and crankpin rebuild kit. I see there are...

    Loom for XB12r Race bike

Hi, is there such a thing as a wiring diagram for a race XB12r. The ratty XB12r Im converting to a track bike has a fairly rough loom so wanting to strip out all of the unnecessary stuff. Cheers, Stu

    03 XB12r Race bike

Yes...no Buells were harmed in this exercise. I am quite aware that too many Buells get parted out for little reason. Hopefully taking surplus bits off this one will keep some more good ones on the road and still have a bike left over. I also have a Rob North Trident that has been put together...

    03 XB12r Race bike

Cheers Cooter, always a source of good info. The bike was pretty cheap but ratty. I have two other XB's so this bike will be donating parts to the spares shelf. I'm 63 so track days is all about fun rather than winning. Our local race scene here in Christchurch is very social and the BEARS has...

    03 XB12r Race bike

Hey Everyone, just picked up a 03 XB12r in a bit of a sorry state. It has been deregistered so cannot go back on the road given New Zealand new compliance rules so it is going to be my new BEARS/track day bike. Realistically, what can I remove in the way of gear for the track. Im thinking...

    Buell Fuel Line Connector

Thanks Guys, I have found some fittings online and they are on the way. The male fitting is 5/16" or 8mm, there is only 2 thou difference. The male fuel tube looks like either Dorman or Bundy fitting will go on. I have both types coming so will report back when they arrive.

    Buell Fuel Line Connector

Thanks guys, I checked out the Buelltooth one and that is easy enough to duplicate her in NZ but have to admit, $25 is a bargain. I was hoping to get the female fitting so I can make an inline tester so you can test fuel pressure while running. I made one a while ago from an old Buell fuel line...
