Hey guys, I just bought my bike about a month ago and it was all running good. I did put it down into a curb at about 15mph, only damgage from that was a scratch to the fairing.

I changed the oil with synthetic without knowing thats not what the previous owner was using, it started knocking in the lower part of the bike the next day, I did another oil change to what they had been using but now at idle it knocks, it goes away when I get above around 2.5k rpm and comes back as the bike steadys out in idle. It doesn't do it always though it comes and goes. I checked the primary and its good, not sure what else to check.

Thanks for any help!

are you sure its a knock and not a tick? contrary to what a lot of people think switching from synthetic to conventional will not hurt a thing.

It sounds like a knock but at times it quiets down to a tick. And it just started happening right after the oil change so I thought that might be it.

I have a 2003 xb9 and I changed the oil and put conventional in. It ran to thin and the bleader valves started to knock. Went back to synthetic 20w50 and she purred. Expensive oil change since I ran her over to Harley in order to not make it worse. Just sayin....oil has made mine knock. Good luck!

might be able to get a video up tomorrow.
And yeah it didn't start til I changed it, but it didn't stop when I put the harley oil they had been using in.

You should idle at between 950 and 1100 (I believe) there is aa adjustment screw by your left side intake to change idle speed. It will run best at about 1,000rpm
